How Children REALLY React To Control by Chris

Big Kids Bed by heughins1
My daughter is 16 months. I know this is quite young to start training her on a big kids bed, but my younger daughter (3 months) is outgrowing her cradle. We cannot afford a second crib, so we need to start my oldest on a big kids bed. Does anyone have suggestions on how to do this?

"Let's Name the Zones" from Finding Nemo by Liesl
My kids sing along with the bus driver stingray, but kind of garble the names of the zones. I figure they might as well learn this bit of general knowledge. Who knows - it might come up as a million dollar quiz question one day :-) If anyone can hear what is being sung, please post or...

Inappropriate Teacher's Dress by Mary
Have any of you faced a teacher, preschool or otherwise that dressed inappropriately? Recently, I experienced a situation with "teachers" (they were actually college students doing a summer intern-job) that wore low ride, cotton, white, mini skirts, with no slips (do people still wear slips?). One...

Bright 2nd grader & school truancy / part-time home-school? by Vicki
Today we received a warning letter for truancy for our 2nd grader. The principal said she was concerned about dd's absences. I am not concerned about dd's absences--she is bright, she knows the material I don't think the teacher is concerned. But the principal said dd is only allowed 5 excused...

Do you support educational vouchers in schools? by Bob Coleslaw
Is it better for the government to give out vouchers so parents can send their kids to private schools, or to use that money to fix up the public schools? Bob Coleslaw

5 Year Old Child - Discovered Small lump on Back of Head by Billy
I just discovered a small lump on the back of my 5 year old daughters head that's about the size of a bean or a very large raisin. It's hard and non-moveable. It's parallel to the ear towards the back/bottom/left of her head. Almost feels like part of her head but it definitely protruding and...

Pocket money by Welches
I thought I'd try and generate a debate or two as this group seems to have gone fairly quiet barring the spam. I'm going to raise a couple of senarios, that I've been in as a child or a parent or a friend. This one is about pocket money. Three children, two born at the start of the academic...

Question for religious parents by [email protected]
Would you have a problem with your child being friends with an atheist, or being friends with a child who's parents are atheists? The reason I ask is that I am an atheist and I have a daughter who is almost two and I live in a very religious area. Now that my daughter is not really a baby anymore...

Homework for a 5 year old - how much involvement needed. by polzovatel
Hi, I've got a question about homework for a 5 year old. My opinion is that you should encourage his independence even at this early age ,explain to the child what's needed to be done and how to do it , let him do it by himself as much as possible, leave it as it is if even it's not perfect and...
