Is this normal? by Karlee in Kansas
Hi all, I've been lurking here for quite some time, and now that my DD has made her arrival into this world I have a few questions. First off a little background. My DS was born 1-21-97, and I was only able to breastfeed him for 6 weeks because my dr was insistent at me going on the pill right...

yeast revisited by Karlee in Kansas
When I was getting ready to go into the OR to have my c-section, I was given a dose of antibiotics. Seems as if I now have a vaginal yeast infection. This is not entirely uncommon for me as it has happened before. The problem is in the fact that I am seen at a military hospital. The regular docs...

I need a boost...(semi-vent/rant) by Karlee in Kansas
I posted the other day about my resolve to exclusively bf Erin until we start solids. That is not the problem. The problem is starting solids and my parenting choices. Erin is 6w6d and when we were waiting to pick DS (6yo) from school, another mother was asking about Erin. She asked how old...

Wits end....need help by Karlee in Kansas
DD reached the 4 month mark a few days ago, and while we are still going strong on bf, the past two nights leave me wanting to rip my hair out. both nights were hell on wheels for both of us. She refuses to sleep, and if she does by chance go to sleep, she sleeps for about a half hour then wants...

BF update by Karlee in Kansas
If you all remember a while back I vented about some "advice" that was doled out at my son's school. I thought you might all enjoy the conversation that took place on Halloween, after their little parade around the school :-) Mom 1: Wow! She is really getting big...how big is she now? Me: Her...

nursing necklace? by Kari
Does anyone have or use one? I've seen them on several natural baby type sites and I think I might order one. Xander has become easily distracted while nursing and has done the string cheese thing to my nipple more than once in the last few days. I just thought I'd ask here first to see if anyone...

Weightloss while nursing by Kari
Ok, I totally need to do something. I lost all of the pregnancy weight right away, and then in the last month, I've gained 10 back! Im starving all the time (which seems to be a lot of us so at least it's not just me!) I dont have time to do weight watchers meetings and I did slim fast stuff...

Weight gain in 4 mo old by Kari
Im not exactly what the "norm" is but I thought I'd ask from other experienced mom's on here. My son was 8lb 5oz at birth, 10lb 15oz at 2 weeks, 12lb 12oz at 2 mos. All good gains. At his 4mo checkup, he was 14lbs even. Is that a normal gain between mos 2-4? Only a hair over a lb? He is still...

Sleep and sickness :( by Kari
Good and bad news... 2 nights in a row Xander slept 12 hours with only 1 feeding, that lasted 5 minutes and went back to sleep!!! And not only that, but he's been taking 2, 2 hr naps a day. This is sooo wonderful. We co-sleep and decided to try him in his crib and guess what? He sleeps!!! Amazing....

My 1st NIP comment by Kari
Last night while I was at my daughter's Irish Step recital, another mother saw me nursing Xander and came up to me and said "he nurses so well!" We went on to talk about how he has always refused a bottle so it wasn't ever an option for me to feed him EBM. She mentioned that's how her...

pumping question by Kari
Just curious, is it normal for one breast to have more output than the other? My left breast will put out 2-3oz in 5 minutes and my right, even when full will only put out 1oz if Im lucky. Mind you, I stay at home full time so I dont NEED to pump, I dont get engorged with him being on a regular...

tired..help by Kari
Xander is nearing the 4mo mark and well, Im more tired now that I was before! He nurses every 1-2hrs during the day and 2-3 hours at night, sometimes more often. Im pretty sure the night nursing is for comfort because it doesn't last more than 10 minutes usually. The problem is, he will eat, fall...

Slightly OT - leaving 5 mo old for a day by Kari
My 8 yr old has a dance competition on the 3rd of April. Up until tonight I was planning on it being a 2 day affair but I just found out that her team only performs one of those days. We'd have to leave by 6am to get to the site by 9am and she has to stay until the awards ceremony that...

At what age do babies start slowing down on eating? by Kari
Xander is 2.5 mos and I feel constantly engorged. He goes about 3-4 hours during the day but sometimes longer and eats twice at night (2am and 5am) I feel full all the time. He only eats for about 5-10 minutes each feed, sometimes only on one side. Does that sound right? He just had his 2...

How often should a 2 month old nurse? by Kari
Is it normal for a 2 month old to be nursing as often as he did as a newborn? He'll go 2-3 hours between feeds, 24 hours a day. So far we haven't had a stretch longer than a 3 hours. The reason Im wondering is because during the night, he will wake at regular intervals but then nurse for only...

My 2 mo old wont take a bottle - help! by Kari
I recently introduced my son to a bottle (with EBM) and he refuses to take it. We've tried Avent and Platex nipples but he gets VERY upset. I've had my husband try several times as well as other family members & friends but he only gets more and more upset. I've tried when he's full, when he's...

Intro by Kari
Hi everyone! Most of you I recoginize from MKP but I thought I'd better check in over here too now that Xander is almost a month old. So far we've had no problems with nursing but I could use all the extra support I can get! ;) This is my 3rd baby so I hope I can contribute once in awhile as well....

Defective Right Side? by KarenC
I am presently nursing my third son, having nursed the older two for over two years each. It's been a mystery to me, over the years, why I always eventually become a one-sided nurser, on the left. I am more comfortable nursing on the left, it's true, but this time, in particular, I am...
