How much to extract? by
[email protected]
My 4 month old DD is finally after a long battle accepting the bottle
with EBM, Yesterday for the first time she drank 4ounces but she
seemed to be still be hungry after that. I breast feed her for another
10 minutes and she seemed satisfied.
I have yet to be separated from her for more than an...

the flu or mastitis? by
oregonchick
I woke up this morning with a very painful and throbbing right breast. But
no hardness, lump, or redness. Throughout the day, I have started to feel
much worse. Now I have a fever of 102. I still am pumping and bf'ing on
the right side, and it is soft and pliable, still not hot or red, still...

A funny CTTS by
JennP
Jessica is 13 months and really starting to develop a little vocabulary. I'm
pretty impressed actually, considering all the trouble with the ear
infections (she has her 9th right now, appt. w/ENT on 1/20).
Tonight I was nursing her before putting her to bed. She took a few sips,
popped off, said,...

what does a plugged duct feel like? by
oregonchick
I have this excruciating pain in my right breast. Not the whole breast
hurts, but one area in kind of a line from top to nipple. It almost feels
like an intense engorged pain, and all night it throbbed. It's agony! But
I don't feel a hard lump or anything to indicate a clog. I'm pumping...

help please! by
Angela
My DD is 3 months and fully breastfed. She has been gaining weight steadily,
but only put on 3oz in the last 3 weeks (10-13 weeks). My HV doesn't seem
too bothered, and neither was I until last night.
She fed almost constantly for 2 hours last night - kept pulling off and
getting really distressed,...

What's going on? by
Sea
Martha is 7 weeks old, feeds well and has put weight on normally. She
was getting into a routine at night time, but the last few nights this
has been a problem. She used to go till about 12.30am and then woke at
4.00am, so two night feeds.
Now though, she might go down at say 9.30 and be awake...

more on dummy/pacifier usage (x-posted) by
Leanne
some stuff I read out of another article today, which I thought was pretty
interesting -
Dummy Myths and Facts.
FACT 1:
Studies of newborns have shown no evidence of so-called nipple confusion.
Babies do seem to be able to suck for comfort on a dummy yet know how to
feed from the breast without...

Pumped milk with mastitis and antibiotics by
Jen
I have just been prescribed antibiotics to clear up mastitis :(. The GP I
saw advised me not to feed on that side for while but pump. Can I keep the
pumped milk for later use? He said it's no problem bf'ing with the
antibiotics so I can't see a problem but thought I'd check.
Thankfully I caught...

Not spam, I swear... by
Amy
Y'all have known me long enough to know I'm not spamming for this
website. I'm genuinely curious.
Before I drop $47, has anyone tried this method:
http://www.sleepsense.com/
I don't want to spend the money if it isn't worth it. She *says* that
it's not an "abandon your baby to cry it out"...

stinky belly button on newborn...??? by
oregonchick
Emily is 9 days old now. We've been taking care to keep the belly button
stump dry, and watching it for any sign of problem. I started to notice
today that something about her was stinky. I assumed her bottom, but
realized the odor was coming from the cord stump. There is no redness...

fluid intake while breastfeeding - how much? by
oregonchick
I am pumping tons of extra breastmilk for freezer, and Emily easily consumes
24 oz in addition. I am drinking 2-32oz bottles of water per day, but also
drink upwards of 32 oz of nonfat milk, a diet coke, a couple sugar free
cocoas, etc. Is this adequate?

A dear friend of mine went through a great scare with her daughter

She was still nursing her a couple of times a day and for the last few
months the little one was lethargic and not being herself...she had
taken the little girl to the family doctor several times and...
