Will APHA help babies? (Obstetric emergency) by
Todd Gastaldo
PREGNANT WOMEN: Obstetricians are closing birth canals up to 30% and
robbing babies of up to 50% of their blood volume.
It is EASY to offer your babies these "extras."
See below.

Nesting... by
Emily
Today I felt it necessary to clean off the dark dust (from
car exhaust, maybe?) that collects on the rails (painted white)
of our front porch.
Still pg,

KR
I'm not pregnant yet but am hoping to be soon.
I have really gotten into lifting weights and running over teh past 6
months and I don't plan on stopping when I get pregnant. I know there
are some guidelines that I should follow, like maximum heart rate, no
bouncy movements, etc... Can anybody...

baby shopping list? by
oregonchick
Is there a list somewhere of essential "starter gear" of what we'll need?
I'm afraid I'm going to go hog-wild shopping. I have been shopping for used
items since I'm finding I can buy nearly new stuff for way way less.
So far I have:
oak crib
changing table
high chair
car seat

bleeding at 25 wks by
V.
Well, I had a bleeding "incident" last night at 25 wks. Bright red
blood, like my period. Called the hospital and they told me to come
in. Hooked up to monitors, and everything looked fine. By then the
bleeding had stopped (none today either). I didn't have a lot of blood
really, just a few...

Recovering From 1st Before Having 2nd? by
[email protected]
I've always wanted to have my children close together. 2 years max age
gap. DD1 is now 6 months old. I had a difficult pregnancy that had me
in bed for 3 months with marginal placental previa, a Cesarian, and
another non-pregnancy injury that put me off of my feet for a month.
Needless to say, I...

Squatting for that extra 30% by
Benevolent Prof
I went to my first Lamaze class this week with my large nation-wide HMO
and it was not nearly as bad as I had feared. The instructor didn't
talk down to us and was up front about the pain.
Todd Gastaldo will be very happy to hear that one of the first things
that we were taught was how to squat in...

pt 3, why I snagged the bag by
SuperEeyore
Okay, where I left off yesterday… I just have to make it clear that
this is where my inner evil cranky foul mouthed thoughts took over my
mind when things or people started to annoy me. For the most part I
was in my own little space zoning on the labor when the contractions
came and went. My family...

play-yard/crib for over 30 pound kid by
[email protected]
Does anyone know of any options for a play yard that will primarily be
used as a crib for a kid over 30 pounds? My son is 20 months old and
about 27 pounds. He needs a play yard at his day care for sleeping.
In looking at the options, it appears that all the basic pack n play
type things are...

NCQA: Obstetricians offer the worst spine care by

NCQA: OBSTETRICIANS OFFER THE WORST SPINE CARE
GREAT statement from NCQA's Sarah Scholle, MPH, DrPH quoted below...
PREGNANT WOMEN: Your baby's spine is so important. Don't let an
obstetrician wrench your baby's neck with your birth canal closed the
"extra" up to 30%. It's EASY to allow your...

A Finn responds to Dr. Gastaldo by
Todd Gastaldo
Jouko K Salminen, M.D.,Ph.D., Finland - apparently the birth-canal-closing
semisitting delivery position IS being used in Finland.
There is no reason that "Kaija's" friend should have been semisitting,
closing her birth canal the "extra" up to 30%. No reason at all.
Please stop. Grisly details...

intro by
Anonymama
Hey -- I realized I never introduced myself. I used to post here under
my real name (Sara) when I was pregnant with #1 in 2002, but want to be
a little less Googleable this time around. I'm now pregnant with #2. No
due date yet, but I'm guessing April. It's good to see so many familiar
names here...
