uneven supply between breasts by
Liz
Hi,
Lately I've been finding that my right breast gets a lot fuller of milk than
my left breast, especially first thing in the morning. I try to get my 9.5
week DD to nurse about the same amount on each breast, alternating at each
feed, but now I have to give her the right breast more -- is this...

"bad" milk causing vomiting? by
V.
My 5 month old had an episode of violent vomiting at daycare yesterday.
They said she ate normally, took a nap and when the caregiver picked her up
she vomited three times in rapid succession, and it sounds like it might
have been projectile vomiting. She came home, took an extra long nap (45
min...

teeth affecting sleep? by
Meredith
My 4 month old DD has never had problems sleeping until about a week ago.
From 6 weeks she slept about 6 or 7 hours on average, would have a feed and
then sleep for another couple of hours, with about 3 naps during the day.
She started teething a few weeks ago and is miserable on and off, but...

Best manual pump? by
[email protected]
I thought I would ask the group. There are times when I need to pump
some milk, but am in the car or out and about. I have an electric
pump, but its not very portable.
I was wondering about possibilities for a good, efficient, quality
manual pump. I do have an inverter device that I can plug...

Signs of a bad nanny or babysitter
It's not always easy to know whether your child's caregiver is doing the job she's supposed to. To find out, you may have to do some sleuthing. Some...

Big step: food introduction by
[email protected]
Today Shiny had her first non-me dairy product. Plain goatmilk yogurt.
Her first bite... she made the funniest face, which would have put me
off if it wasn't exactly the face she makes for Coconut Bliss
(coconut-based ice cream)... it's her "That's so cold, Mommy!"
face...but her little mouth was...

help -- cold sores by
Dagny
Poppin has herpetic looking ulcers on the inside and outside of lower lip.
I had a cold sore outbreak a bit ago, and did not avoid kissing him b/c I
was in denial for the first few weeks (I thought it was a pimple and
irritation from blowing nose into tissue paper).
Has been nursing both breasts. ...

(OT) Breast Milk by

My apologies... :D I liked it, anyways, and it seems to be only kind of off
topic ;)

A not necessarily well-prepared student sat in his life science classroom,
staring at a question on the final exam paper. The question directed: "Give
four advantages of breast milk."
What to write? He...

My husband is from Germany. All his family is still there (We're in the
US). He travels back there for business trips about once a year, and this
year it will probably be in August. He wants to take the baby with him to
drop off at his parents while he is there on business for a whole...

Cloth diapers, at it again!!! by
peggy-o
So I have been trying really hard to make this work but I am still
having a hard time getting them tight enough. I can see why pampers
evolved. I guess there is a price to pay for being environmentally
conscience. I've been working with prefolds but if I can't make this
work I'm going to switch to...

How often do I feed baby? by
Sandy
I'm a new mom and this is my first baby. I'm confused about
feedings...heard mixed things. My baby is now 6 months old. I started
on rice cereal at 5 months and then vegies. I did the orange veggies
and now we are starting the greens. We started on once per day and now
are at twice per day for the...

another wives' tale? by

I had an older lady (around 60) tell me that I shouldn't submerge Emily's
ears in water because it can cause infection. Lately, since she doesn't fit
in her baby tub anymore, I've been putting a couple inches of water in the
bottom of our tub and laying her in it, but her ears do go below the...

Pulling away from breast/squirming and weight question... by
[email protected]
Hi all...
I have a 4 month old son that has been exclusively breastfed. I have a
question about his behavior at the breast and a weight question.
If he is swaddled he will eat without difficulty, but when not
swaddled, he'll squirm like mad, pop off and on, snack, etc. Its
fustrating, because...

Flat nipples and thyroid problems by

Hello
I'm 33 weeks pregnant with my second child. I had problems

My first was not gaining enough weight, I don't know if it was a
supply problem or a milk quality problem; I've never been able to pump
much. I...

to only sleep for 15 minutes at a time for the first several months of
