Are Florida schools really horrible? by [email protected]
I was trying to find some info on the web but didn't see anything detailed yet. Just spend some time in Miami area (loved it) and really want to relocate my family to Florida (as long as schools are good). My kids are 11 and 14. Also, I was a bit alarmed about the proximity of poor black areas...

Issue with Neighbor Teen - Need Advice by Rhonda
A woman in the process of divorce from her second husband has moved in across the street from me with her two girls, one from each marriage. One is 7 and one is 15. I have seen the way she treats the older girl, and it hurts my heart. Nothing this girl says to her is right. When her younger girl...

Home activities in infant/toddler programs by Donna Metler
I'm looking at adding an infant/toddler and parent music/physical activity program at my school next year as an option for parents. This would be (hopefully) grant funded so there would be little or no cost to parents. The goal is to give our (inner city, often very young) parents a chance to...

potty training - transitioning to underpants? by Cathy Weeks
Kivi seems ready to potty train. She's 3 years and 3 months old, and is pretty much training herself, as long as she's naked from the waist down. We have two potties, one in the upstairs bathroom, and one in our downstairs family room, and if she's naked, she just trots over to the nearest potty...

Carseat Questions - Canadian traveling with Tots in USA by [email protected]
I have a Canadian carseat and plan on renting a car in the US. I have two questions about this: 1) Do Canadian carseats meet US FMVSS (they meet the CAD Motor Vehicle Safety standards, but what about US ones)? While driving in the US, can a cop give me a ticket for not using a FMVSS-approved...

thin paper for baby to tear/crumple? by Donna Metler
Alli had her 4 month checkup today, and she really seemed to be enjoying grabbing and crumpling the paper on the exam table. Is there any kind of thin paper which would be good for this at home? It seemed thinner than regular copy paper, but very crisp. -- Donna DeVore Metler Orff Music...
