Could membrane stipping actually retard labour? by

I had my membranes stripped two days ago and since then the occasional
contractions that I'd been having for a couple of weeks now seem to
have reduced to just the odd one every once in a while, no more than
about three or four a day.
I was wondering if the stripping somehow might have affected...
