Is It EVER Okay to Let your Newborn Cry? by
Carol Ann
I just can't get Morgan to sleep without me holding her or having her suck
on my breast constantly.
I am really going crazy. Is it EVER okay to let your newborn cry in her
crib? If so, for how long?

strange rash on a 10-month old. please help! by
C Du
Our son Josh is having a rash that's even strange to the doctor. Basically,
he got a rash two days after taking antibiotics for the first time
(Amoxicilin). The rash looks like red small dots (see photos in the web page
below). We stopped the antibiotics and it gradually reduced over 3 days.
Then...

How much breastmilk does it take to actually do anything? by
Donna Metler
I'm down to pumping twice a day, and my output is such that my daughter can
have, maybe, a sippy cup full of milk total in a day's time-about 8 oz, with
3 in the morning and 5 at night. I'm wondering if I'm actually doing
anything useful for her with that small quanitity (which takes about...

Gas in BF baby by
betsey@delete_nospamnelgin.nu
You've seen me once and my husband a couple of times. Sorry I never
responded about my original post (I think Anne replied to that one,
about a nipple shield my midwife gave me - thanks!). You know how it
is...
My latest "problem" is that my exclusively BF son, John, 10 weeks
today, has very...

Bragging Time by
New York Jen
I took Laszlo for his 2 year well toddler check up today. He's just under
32 pounds and they couldn't get an accurate height reading because he
wouldn't cooperate, but the shorter end of what he measured was 34 1/4
inches and that puts him in the 50th percentile.
The pediatrician said that his...

Am I the only one who finds this easy? by
Nina
I've never had a problem breastfeeding my kids all the way to about 28
months. I may have needed advice or suggestions on some things, but for the
most part it has been easy as pie, and I've enjoyed it. Is it just me??

am I doing something wrong? by
determined
Emily is now nearly 11 months old. She eats like a champ all day, likes
everything we give her. She's still small for her age, but we don't really
even think about that anymore, since she is growing well.
Here's the problem. For about a month now, she is waking up as often as she
did as a...

Oops . . . by
Leslie
As usual, I have been having computer problems. This time it is two viruses
that ate my hard drive. I have been offline for over a month, and it will
probably be close to that before I get it back.
And I really miss "talking" to everyone here . . . and I need some support
right now . ....

co-sleeping and SIDS by
Leslie
I read an article in the paper this morning about a two-week-old who died of
SIDS. His mother is using the tragedy as a springboard for a campaign
requiring by law that 1) all parents be CPR certified before leaving the
hospital and 2) that all parents of infants must have a baby monitor that...

cosleeping and crawling by
jake's mom
Hi all,
For all of you cosleepers--how do/did you all deal with your little one
crawling in the bed? DS is 7 months old and cosleeps part of the night with
me--then part of the night with DH. I go to work in the middle of the night
so DH has him alone in bed for half of the night. We are both...

arguments about feeding by
teapot
My 6 week old is back on hourly feeds. He feeds himself asleep and
then he is really awake when I try to get him off the breast.
The argument is, do we
a) drop everything (eating, peeing, sleeping) and feed the baby as
soon as he cries
b) try to distract the baby so there is a longer gap and he...

Dehydration while nursing by
Ryan
My darling wife has become sick today. She is concerned for our nursing
5 month old and I'm posting on her behalf. (She is a regular here; a
lurker, however.)
We are not sure whether it is salmonella from eggs with runny yolks she
ate 12 hours before onset of symptoms, or if it is the flu from...

birth control and bfing by
Susan
Hi all,
I'm delurking to ask a question.
I have a 2 year old (nursed until he weaned himself at 15 months :( )
and an 11 week old.
My midwife suggested a Depo shot and I'm considering it but wanted to
ask you all. Does it interfere with b/fing at all? That's my primary
concern. Any complaints?...

I totally flunked my Postnatal Depression test :o( by
Andrea
Turns out despite my efforts the dreaded postnatal depression is back.
I really though I wasn't going to get it this time. My health visitor asked
lots of questions and I do have it again. I knew deep down inside, but I was
ignoring it.
I have never treated PND with meds before, and I won't, just...

OT "Let me hold the baby" by
Cheryl S.
Why do some people not take no for an answer when they want to hold your
baby? We were just at an extended family holiday party and DS was
freaked out by all the noise and strange people. I spent most of the
time we were there standing and swaying in a quiet corner soothing him.
I knew if anyone...

OT - appetite stimulant for a 7 yo? by
Cheri Stryker
DS1 has always been a picky eater, but he used to get a decent quantity.
Lately, though, he barely eats anything. He's still gaining height,
and a teeny tiny bit of weight, but it's getting me really worried. He
asks for 2 hot dogs for lunch, and only manages to eat 1/2 of one.
He's currently...

paper diapers that don't leak? by

I'm using cloth, but I'd like to use paper diapers when I go out...and I'm
*considering* switching when I go back to work and my son's in daycare. But
every paper diaper I've tried leaks. The (diaper service) cloth diapers
with the Pro-Wrap or Whisper Wrap covers rarely do. Does anyone...
