Possibly Dumb Nursing-Bra Question by Belphoebe
Yup, another bra question. . . . ;) Before I became a mom, I imagined that a nursing bra would have an opening that just sort of uncovered the nipple area while still holding up the breast. But in practice, I've found that when I'm nursing, I need to extract so much breast that it's almost as if...

Preparing to pump - questions by cjra
I've got a few months before I need to buy anything, but I'm trying to make a list to work out a budget so planning a bit ahead. - If needing to pump due to FT work (ie 8+ hrs away from baby), I guess an electric pump would be best? - What are your recommendations? Is there a reason to rent...

what is breast milk supposed to smell like? by oregonchick
When it's freshly expressed, my milk has no smell, except maybe mildly sweet, or similar to cows milk. But after freezing and thawing, it takes on a smell more like what I remember formula smelling like - not really pleasant, maybe a yeasty sort of smell. There is no chance that my milk is sour...

Here we go... by Phoebe & Allyson
Jodie wrote: she asked, "Well, do you think your milk just isn't satisfying her anymore?". May just be a generational thing - I took Caterpillar to visit two clients in their 80's, and both said how terrible it was their milk wasn't good enough to bf. Heck, Allyson's mom, who's not yet 60,...

not sure about milk supply by K.B.
I was always able to pump at least 4 oz. My milk stash ran out in the freezer and the baby won't drink anything but bm. For some reason I can barely get an ounce. One side I can't get anything. He doesn't nurse from that side. The good side is 3 times the size of the other and he nurses often. Is...

Am I Invisible? by Leslie
I have noticed in the past week or so that most of my comments to threads are not being responded by the OPs even when they answer every comment. Thus I assume that either I am becoming extremely unpopular or my posts are not showing up on some servers (I can see them). I am assuming the latter...

Formula at night by laurie
I really hate to even ask this question, but to be fair, I feel I need to. Much to my dismay, I'm starting the night shift on Friday. I'll be working 7 pm to 7 am 2 nights a week. Christopher still eats a couple of times during the night, likely more out of habit and cosleeping than out of...

Shrugging comments off.....:( by FayeC
My best friend was a nurse for about 10 years then decided to change carreers. She kept her old thinking about breastfeeding and child raising though and although she doesn't bug me to stop breastfeeding *too much* she does make comments like "if she was on the bottle she would be sleeping through...

dairy causing eczema? by Irrational Number
So, based on what I've read here (especially Phoebe's posts), I've decided to stop all dairy to see if that helps Pillbug's eczema. He has had mild eczema for awhile now, off and on. Last Friday I had a wisdom tooth pulled and the dentist said to eat a lot of calcium to rebuild the bone in the...
