an update by
oregonchick
Emily is 10 weeks old now and usually only wakes up once in the night. We
were just at the pediatrician for her 2 month checkup and shots, and she
weighed in at about 10lbs, which put her in the 25th percentile. I asked
the doc what it all meant, and he said the charts were worthless or...

And back to the final curtain by
Sarah Vaughan
Since Jamie was down to nursing only a few minutes at bedtime and I was
planning to wean him fairly soon, I went to "don't offer, don't refuse"
sometime a couple of weeks back. Instead of getting the breast out
ready for him when we lie down together, I would lie down with him with
my breast still...

and finally.... by
Anne Rogers
the weight starts to come off!
It's happened twice now, have baby, lose significant weight in first week
then nothing until after 1st birthday. I've breastfed both beyond the first
birthday, so it doesn't really make sense, very little has change in terms
of breastfeeding this time since about...

And now, the end is near... by
Sarah Vaughan
Jamie has been day-weaned (mother-led weaning) for about six weeks or so
now, and this week I'm planning to night-wean him (as I'm off work for
the week and so if it proves difficult I can catch up on sleep during
the day). I'm planning to keep the bedtime nursing going for a little
longer to get...

And so I face the final curtain by
Sarah Vaughan
Same thing tonight, exactly. When we lay down on the bed, Jamie just
snuggled against me and sucked on his dummy without showing any interest
in nursing.
Tonight was quite a bit harder to deal with than last night, because, of
course, it no longer looks like a one-off. I know that weaning isn't...

Ann Landers advice for NIP by
Mvbff778
I was reading Ann Landers yesterday and they had a lady write in because NIP
upset her. Here is the column....
Dear Annie: I recently attended a baby shower for my niece, who had a baby
last month. There were 25 women in attendance, ranging in age from 6 to 89.
While my niece was in Lamaze...

Announcing... by
Jan Andrea
Sophia arrived at home this morning at 3:30, after 27 hours of labor --
mostly prodromal, but with 4 hours of pretty hard ctx. towards the end. 2
minutes of pushing (this time I knew what I was doing :) which led to a
small, non-suture-needing labial tear, but otherwise no harm to me. Even
though...

annoyances near the one year mark by
Hillary Israeli
So, I'm approaching my one-year mark with my second nursling (!!!) and
while I am of course thrilled to have a healthy baby (almost toddler!)
with a healthy appetite and love of mama's milk, and I am thrilled to be
able to provide her with breastmilk as a source of nutrition and comfort,
I also...

annoyed question for other aolers by
JoelnCaryn
There are *no* threads about Circe/Barbara anywhere to be found in my
newsgroups until the post from her today announcing her return home from the
hospital. None from Angela. None from Grandma Katie. Aaargh.
I didn't want to be on AOL in the first place as I'm used to better software
(long...

Annoying eating habits by
Akuvikate
My sweet wonderful 6 week old DD has picked up a few annoying eating
habits. I'm posting in hopes of getting some insight into either why
she does this, what to do about it, or both.
1. Towards the end of a feed, sometimes she'll start contorting and
twisting her whole body around while keeping...

Another 6 month old by
Cheryl S.
Jaden turns six months old today. That seems to be a traditional time
for an update post, so here it is.
His check up is tomorrow so I'll find out then how much he weighs. I'm
guessing somewhere around 17.5 pounds, which would be a gain of 9.5 from
his birthweight. 9.5 pounds of breastmilk. ...

another AF / return of fertility question by
Heather
Hello,
I know this is a YMMV situation. However, I would like people's
thoughts on this. I've been breastfeeding for almost 14 mo. Still no
period. I would like my fertility to return. DS nurses approx. five
times a day between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. (this includes
comfort nursing) I...

Another Baby Carrier & Sling Question by
JoAnna
Hi there all!
We are going to take the kiddos to A Day Out With Thomas and I would prefer
to wear the little one (she'll be 2 months when we go) rather than bring a
stroller (can't take one on the train ride) . I don't know if I will be
proficient enough at using my Maya Wrap sling by then, i...

another Baby poo question by
Jo
Will has sucked on a piece of orange before with no ill effects. The
only thing I can think of to cause these frequent poos (aside from a
tummy bug or teething) is the litre of orange juice I drank on Thursday
night - all in one go. The poos have been happening since friday
morning. Could this...

now...
She wakes up around 11:30 pm for feeding, eats for 20 minutes, then it takes
another 10 minutes for her to fall...

another BF'ing update... by
K-K ~Glass Boobs~
Well I feel much better about BF'ing now (still hate it) but I think my
crying days are almost over...
My DH insisted on me breast feeding, He didn't want to spend the money on
formula when we have something free. Well I had a bad night where I was
crying and mumbling about hating it on top of that...
