OT Solids: how much is too much? by
Liquid
My little one is being introduced to solids a little more each week, he
's now almost 6 months. This evening we cooked up some squash (his
favourite) and he ate a ton! We're talking about 1/3 to 1/2 a cup. At
this very moment he is up and crying a lot and won't take the breast
(his usual way to...

If only sleep were carrots... by
Phoebe & Allyson
Caterpillar was extremely enthusiastic about carrots. She actually
finished a 2.5 ounce (70ml) jar over 3 days. And after the good carrot
experience, she was willing to eat rice cereal over the following 3 days
(more rice cereal than I would have given her, by the sound of it, but I
wasn't...

8 month check by
Anne Rogers
Nathanael had is 8 month check today. Everything seems to be fine, he
weighed 6.62kg (still below 0.4th centile) and his head circumference was
45cm (haven't checked that).
We need to get a urine sample from him as he's had some more episodes of
blood in his urine. We also have to take him to the...

Too much nighttime nursing? by
Zucca4
( I don't think my original subject line was specific enough)
Michael Jude is 10 weeks now and still co-sleeping with us. I nurse him to
sleep each night as it seems to be the olnly way to get him to drift off into
never-never land. I'll deal with getting him to sleep on his own later on...

OT - Doll House experiences and questions (xpost) by
Cathy Weeks
Hi all,
When my mom went to dental school (I was nine when she started, 13
when she finished), she bought me a dollhouse kit to work on, because
I was nine years old, and it was going to be our first summer apart.
This was the summer of 1978, and the kit cost around $75.
At nine, I really wasn't...

Isn't it supposed to get better... by
Cheryl S.
I feel like I am really losing my mind, I am so exhausted. 6 weeks ago
it seemed DS was clearly moving toward sleeping all night. There was
even one night where he only got up once, and only nursed for 5 minutes.
But instead since then things keep getting worse. He has gradually been
getting up...

nursing necklace? by
Kari
Does anyone have or use one? I've seen them on several natural baby type
sites and I think I might order one. Xander has become easily distracted
while nursing and has done the string cheese thing to my nipple more than
once in the last few days. I just thought I'd ask here first to see if
anyone...

5 month old refusing to nurse by
lissi
My DS is just days over 5 months. He's always been high needs, fussy,
whatever you want to call it, but in most cases he would calm down if
nursed, and sometimes be right as rain within seconds. We co-sleep and he
has a nurse-to-sleep association, which we've been working to break for
about a...

Greetings by
Deirdre
I've been lurking for a while now and figure it's high time I said hello.
I'm Deirdre, bewildered and delighted mom to Joshua, all of 4 weeks old. He
is our first (and likely only) child, and while we've certainly done our
homework, DH and I are about as clueless as can be about babies...

OT - I'm published! by
teapot
Two articles of mine are in the winters edition of The Mother, an
English attachment parenting mag. This is the start of my cunning
plan to write for a living so I am chuffed to bits to get in print.
Just wanted to show off :-)

Cloth diapers (x-posted) by
kirsti
So my question to all you cloth diapering mommies out there is...just how
many do I need to buy?! I'll probably do prefolds since I didn't like the
fitted ones. Oh, and how many covers per size?
3 dozen should give you ample room on the days when you don't feel
like getting the diapers out...

cosleeping and crawling by
jake's mom
Hi all,
For all of you cosleepers--how do/did you all deal with your little one
crawling in the bed? DS is 7 months old and cosleeps part of the night with
me--then part of the night with DH. I go to work in the middle of the night
so DH has him alone in bed for half of the night. We are both...

Thrush treatment and pain relief by
Usenet Fan
I'm two days into Nystatin treatment for thrush. DS wasn't showing
any symptoms at his checkup, but at my six week checkup, I told the
midwife about my shooting nipple pain and she said that it was likely
thrush. So we're both being treated (I have cream, he has oral
liquid).
Assuming it is...

Introducing meat by
Mushtywoof
A question for all the parents who introduced solids at 6 months, when did
you introduce meat and fish? Books say 6 months but they assume you started
solids at 4 months. I have also read that you shouldnt breast feed right
before or after a meat meal as it decreases the iron absorption...

I did it - my baby is a banana-eater. by
[email protected]
DS had a little banana yesterday. I mushed it up, put him in his high
chair and DH gave him a little. He appeared to get tired of it quickly and
got a little fussy. It turned out that he just wanted out of the high
chair. After I got him out of the chair and on to my lap, he was lunging
at the...

update on frustrated and getting resentful by
Liquid
Whew, I can safely say that that was a terrible couple of days for me.
I have been through a lot with this little guy, but that was the first
time that I felt totally out of control (even had to leave the room and
break a glass!). I am normally so much more competent and in control.
I guess after...

OTish: Another out of control appetite by
Mom2Aries
I've got a similar problem to another poster, but I'm actually constantly
hungry. I just can't get full. I can eat a ton of anything, and be hungry
5-10 minutes later.
I can't afford to keep eating like this, but I can't handle the feeling I
get of always being hungry. I get the shakes, a...
