can't find link: bottle feeding the breastfed pls help by
Dagny
There was a link posted here, I'm pretty sure this is where I found it. It
was about how to bottle feed your baby when you want him to be able to
return to the breast easily or switch back and forth between bottle and
breast. It had a picture of the baby being fed upright. I think it was
more of...

Nipple soreness? by
Andrea
Hi,
I fed Kamron for the last time around a week ago. I am not engorged as we
weaned gradually, however today my nipples are very sore! If I brush against
them it is agony!
Is this normal after weaning? I don't remember it being like this with the
other 4...

CTTS: from Parents magazine, actually! by
JennP
This is from the "Out of the Mouth of Babes" column that runs at the back of
the magazine.
"My three year old daughter, Emily, likes to point out water towers when
we're in the car. Recently, we drove by one and she asked what the building
next to it was. I told her it was a nursing home. She...

OT - when do they understand 'No'? by
teapot
Or should it be when do they stop doing whatever they are not supposed
to do when you say 'No'?
I am consistent about my 'No's'. Nn slapping the cat, no pulling
cables and putting them in your mouth, no playing with plugs but he
takes very little notice of me.

Intro and a few questions by
Shelly
Hi everyone! I've been lurking here for a while and recognize many of you
from misc.kids.pregnancy.
Had my little guy on St. Patrick's Day, and we've been working out
breastfeeding ever since. I am trying to feed on demand, but have resorted
to offering my pinkie/a pacifier (which he hates and...

Intro and solids question by
Sylvia
I've been lurking here for a while and I'm finally going to jump in
and introduce myself.
I'm mom to Oliver who is 8 months. Other than a few ups and downs
along the way our nursing relationship has been pretty smooth. He is
exclusively breastfed. We started solids at 6 months, started with...

OT - when can they have salt and sugar by
teapot
I am finding it really difficult to get interesting food for the Moo
that has no salt or sugar unless I cook things myself. I want to
avoid sugar but if it's low down on the ingredients list when will it
be ok? Same with salt, it's in everything that isn't a special baby
food and doesn't cost a...

Update: No weight gain in 9 mos old by
Leigh McCuen
We had our weight check, and my daughter has gained 7 ounces in the past
two weeks!
The pediatrician wants to do another weight check in 2 weeks, to keep an
eye on things. She's also talking up testing for celiac disease, doing a
thyroid check, and something else. I told her that we had a...

OT Wisdom tooth extraction by
Andrea
I had a wisdom tooth removed under a local anaesthetic along with the tooth
next to it.
The wisdom tooth was really tough to pull out, the dentist said the roots
were very long.
I had it done on Thursday, and on Friday I felt much better, but today
(Saturday) I feel awful. I have pain at the...

happiest baby on the block? by
Clw31
Hi,
We're expecting our first baby in June and recently saw the dvd "Happiest baby
on the block"
Have any of you tried the techniques in this book/dvd? Do the calming
strategies work in real life?
Thank you in advance,
Clare

Refusing bottle. How long to try out different nipples? by
toypup
DD was taking the Playtex Naturalatch nipples at first. DH says she was
taking less and less EBM with each feed. So, I tried that other Playtex
nipple recommended in a recent thread. I left DH with DD for 1 1/2 hours.
DH said she screamed the entire time and screamed worse when he put the
nipple...

Antibiotics and preventing thrush by
Jeanne Clelland
I just got put on a two-week course of amoxycillin for a sinus
infection, so of course I want to do everything I can to try to prevent
me or DD (almost 6 months old) from getting thrush. I'll certainly take
acidopholus - but when's the best time to take it? At the same time as
the amoxycillin, or...

1st Newborn Doc Appointment by
Carol Ann
Morgan had her first doctor's appointment today.
Here's the breakdown:
~The hospital miscalculated her length. Today she was 20.5" so that means
that she was NOT 19" at birth. Seems she is in the upper percentile for
height. YIPPEE!!
~She is 7.9 oz. That is up 1 oz from her birthweight.

18mo wants me to nurse her bears! by
Al Bell
My 18-month-old daughter, who nurses on demand when she's not in daycare,
now wants me to nurse her toy bears and put shoes on them.
I couldn't find any references to this type of thing in the baby books and
was wondering if other toddler parents out there are experiencing this
sort of thing.
