Helping hands... by
Mary W.
Lina wrote:
How many people in here have spouses that help out with housework?
If so, how did you enlist their help?
If you can't tell, I get no housework help, and am starting to be exhausted
from the baby, the dog and cleaning up after three grown adults. (Myself
included.)
My husband...

A pile of poo in his pants at all times by
Purple Kangaroo
For about a year, my 7 year old son has been ****ting himself. He'll
walk around with his pants full all day. He just will not go to the
toilet unless ordered to go. He denies knowledge of when he needs to go
and claims "it just comes out". He'll complain if we tell him to go and
sit on the toilet...

5 month old baby + whale watching in California by
cjra
We're not planning to do this, but someone asked this question on
another board and I was surprised how every single response was along
the lines of "How could one even think of such a thing?! That's no
place for a baby!""
Now, it'd probably be better for the parents without the baby (less
hassle,...

Child fatalities - underreported by
0:->
Does the child welfare profession and agencies under report child homicide?
A gallup poll of parents found them admitting to far more abuse of their
children than USDHHS has recorded.
Does it follow, logically, that though they would not admit to murder of
their child, that more child deaths have...

Advice needed, ASAP (kid = sick) by
Kathryn
Alright, here's the scoop... It's 11:50pm over here. DS, 5yo, was earlier
complaining that his ear hurt, around 730-8pm.
He was even holding his ear and crying while we walked home from the store
(5 min max walk from home)
After telling him there's nothing I can do about it until we got home,...

Pre-School Education Quandry by
[email protected]
I need some good ol' fashioned advice. My son is 31 months old. Last
year he attended a very lovely 2 yr. old nursery school class where the
emphasis is not an academics but just socializing, taking instruction
from others, group play, story time, art work. He went at first two
days (9:00 -...

Teaching Alphabet by
[email protected]
My 2yo DD grasps things very quickly. She can recite lot of rhymes and
loves books. She also knows the alphabet song. I want to start teaching
her alphabet but I'll freely admit I don't know the quick and smart way
to teach her alphabet.
Could anyone give me any tips at all? Thank you!

Tamagotchi horror by
charles
My fourth grade daughter blathers on and on about Tamagotchis. Seems
like "everyone" (her words) in her class has one, generally more than
one, and anyone not having one is a social outcast at recess.
I object to her having one on several grounds:
1. She's whining about wanting one. I've never...

Anyone had this happen - Fifth Disease??? by
Sophie
Charlotte (age 5, in kindergarten) came home from school last Wednesday with
what turned out to be Fifth Disease. Apparently it's going around all the
elementary schools here on base. So far Patrick (4) and Lewis (2) are fine.
Even though the Dr said absolutely positively both boys would get it. ...

social skills (kinda long) by

We've been working really hard in the "please," "thank you," department and
DS has caught on very well. I'm not working on tone, just yet. I just want
"please," and "thank you" to be a habit. Okay, so now, I think it's
becoming ingrained. DS tries very hard to be polite. He does have...

Boiling by

At what age can my baby start having water or milk (cow's milk) that
hasn't been boiled first?
BTW - I know all the general cautions about using water or whole cow's
milk in babies. What I'd like to do, once he's about six months, is
give him a bit of water with his meals, and maybe sometimes use...

could he be color blind? by
jojo
My 2.5 year old DS has an issue....
He is bright, and functions at the level of 3-3.5 year olds in every level.
He is also big for his age, so most folks are surprised to learn he is
younger.
His problem is colors. He always gets yellow, and orange, but other colors
are an issue.
Red, blue,...

changing doctors by

We are going to change Pillbug's pediatric neurologist.
I want to write a pretty harsh critique of the current
neurologist and let him know why we are changing. Is
there any downside to doing this?
My specific issues are that he is unwilling to give
an autism diagnosis before age 5, he...
