Summer Heat by Nina
Ugh. I hate to complain, but it is MISERABLE here! Since we have cool weather 9 months of the year here, no one seems to have air conditioning. Not only that, but the windows in these houses tend to open sideways, making the installation of a window unit difficult PLUS the houses have open...

Preventing allergies - any reliable evidence? by Elizabeth A
Hi, I'm in my second trimester, and still sorting through the evidence on how to reduce baby's risk of allergies. Atopy runs in our family. My husband is moderately allergic to pollen and dander; I have one known food allergy, and minor skin and inhalant allergies. Nothing anaphylactic; just a...

Chest cold by Daye
Hey all... I am now 16 weeks pregnant. I have a bad chest cold with lots of coughing. A couple of weeks ago I had a head cold. I hate being sick and pregnant. Is there anything I can take for the cough? If no to meds, anyone got any home remedies that are okay for pregnant women?? --

Flying in a small plane... by Captain Wubba
Hello. My wife is pregnant with our first child. She is currently 12 weeks into an apparently uncomplicated pregnancy. She's in good health, and has no specific problems that we know of. I am a pilot, and we own our own small plane. I have heard conflicting advice about flying in small,...

Baby is not a fan of Terminator 3 by Rupert
Went to see T3 this weekend and my wife said she felt the baby moving all over the place during the movie (it was very very loud and lots of bass). Either the kid loved the movie or hated it. She felt the baby movie the other night during a loud thunder storm. Must be the loud noise, huh?

Holy smokes, anyone experienced this? by Stephanie
I was just reading an article on BabyCenter.com. (I am goofing off at work. Don't tell.) I just saw this sentence. .... "pre-term labor with minimal or no uterine contractions" ... as a risk factor in determining incompentent cervix. See whole...

Leg Cramps by Mom2B
Anyone know what causes leg cramps at night? I've been getting them in my calf muscles (ooch!) and the pain is unbelievable (I'm hoping labour pains are not much worse!) I've been told that pointing my feet towards me can help. What I want to know is, are these cramps related to diet? I've read in...

31 week report & a positioning question by Em
Yesterday I had another fairly uneventful appointment at my birth center. Starting now, I'm on a every-two-weeks appointment schedule. Too weird! I still can't get over being in the 30's now! Reinforcing why I like this birth center so much, this appt. I didn't even see the nurse first. The doctor...

Bells Palsy by David Hersh
My wife gave birth to our daughter 5 days ago and started showing signs of Bells Palsy 3 days later. The right side of her face is somewhat paralyzed (i.e., her eye doesn't close or blink, the right side of her mouth doesn't move). Her doctor says that it should start to clear up within a week or...

C-section -> Asthma hospitalization of babies? by Todd Gastaldo
PREGNANT WOMEN: MDs are closing birth canals up to 30%! It's EASY to allow your birth canal to OPEN the "extra" up to 30%! Just roll onto your side as you push your baby out! BUT - see WARNING, WARNING, WARNING at the very end of this post. C-SECTION - ASTHMA HOSPITALIZATION OF BABIES?

Another odd breast question.. by Iseult
That is a question about odd breasts, not an odd question about breasts ;) I'm 20 weeks pregnant (with #1) and, frankly, find my breasts a little strange this am. From about implantation I had the normal tender breasts and have gone from a full C to a fullish D - all normal so far. This am I...

BABY'S FIRST WORDS by Elleena
How did God make mothers? 1.- He used dirt, just like for the rest of us. 2.- Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring. 3.- God made my mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts. ------------------------------------------------------------ Why did God give you your mother...

Mitch and boan. by Chotii
I am officially tired of being pregnant now. No matter how I sit, if I sit - on a chair with my back straight, in a kneeling 'ergonomic' chair, on the birth ball, cross-legged on the floor...doesn't matter, when I stand up, I feel this gawdawful pressure on my cervix. My sacrum is loose, making...

38 weeks and counting! by Alicia Elliott
I went in to see the midwife for my weekly update today. In some ways it was good, but I am feeling somewhat disappointed that labour hasn't happened yet. I know that there is no way to predict when it will happen. However, when I lost my mucous plug last Monday I was sure that 'something' was...
