Got my first "request" to nurse DD under a blanket by
cjra
I guess I should consider myself lucky, as DD is 17 months and until
now, have never really had any issues with NIP. I'm reasonably
discreet but don't go out of my way to hide myself. DD is big enough
that she covers me completely, although it's more obvious now what
she's doing.
We were in...

She'll eventually slow down again, right? by
cjra
DD is almost 17 months and nurses ~2x/day, a bit more on weekends but
not much.
Last week she had the croup. Wouldn't eat or drink anything for 3 days
but she nursed. And nursed. And nursed. It was like she was going
through a growth spurt again.
I didn't mind it so much as I was glad she was at...

Weaning from the pump - OUCH by
cjra
DD is 14 months old now. I didn't have the heart to try to wean her
yet. We want to TTC soon but my period showed up this month (not sure
about the ovulation tho), so I was thrilled about not having to wean.
However DD pretty much weaned herself off bottles at daycare about 13
months. She never...

Clingy 1 year old by
cjra
My normally happy, friendly, sociable DD has turned into clingy
toddler. She still is sociable, but has been really needy and not
wanting anyone but mommy or daddy, and sometimes not us either! Today
when I dropped her off at daycare she clung to me and wouldn't let go.
She did the same thing when...

NIP in church? Appropriate? by
cjra
I was shocked when I read on another chat board a woman - a young
woman, in her 20s, who says she NIPs herself - stated that it was
inappropriate in church and was offended when a woman did. And what's
more, many people agreed it was the one place where it wasn't
appropriate.
I'd think it was the...

So proud of myself! And DD - NIP by
cjra
I've only been at this since last Monday, and I hadn't figured out how
to BF discretely yet. In the hospital was no big deal, I had no qualms
about ripping off my top. So we had our first outing today to Target.
Of course as soon as we arrived she decided she wanted to nurse again.
I had her in a...

Breastfeeding challenges by
cjra
My daughter is now 18 days old, but spent the first 17 days in
hospital. She was on a ventilator for 8 days, began tube feeding EBM at
day 5, mouth feeding 2x/day at day 11 - via bottle which she didn't
take to well at all. At 14 days started on the breast. She immediately
took to it on her first...

Pumping and nausea by
cjra
I gave birth on July 3, so 11 days ago. My daughter's in NICU so have
been pumping since day 1. Got the usual contractions while pumping, a
few days ago got heavier cramping, but all still within what seems like
normal range. But beginning yesterday, every time I pump I got nausea.
I don't throw...

Our daughter is here by

Angelina Gisele was born on July 3, 21:56. weighing 7lbs 12oz, 54 cm
long. (there's an accent on that first e in Gisele, but I can't type
it...)
She is beautiful as ever.
Unfortunately she aspirated meconium duing labor, and was born with
inflamed and infiltrated lungs. She's in NICU, and has...

Leaky breasts in pregnancy by
cjra
Everything I've read says it's normal to leak in the last month of
pregnancy, but how normal is it *not* to leak?
Did you leak? and if not, any association with when/how well your milk
came in?
I leaked ~week 22-25, but nothing since then (now at 38w)

Ameda/Hollister "Hospital grade" pump vs. Medela Pump In Style by
cjra
I was planning to purchase the Medela Pump in Style pump, but was just
told I can borrow the Ameda pump from WIC (I work for a health dept,
they have a few for employees). I don't know which model only that it's
"hospital grade and runs US$450. I just have to buy the kit.
I was thinking maybe I'd...

Preparing to pump - questions by
cjra
I've got a few months before I need to buy anything, but I'm trying to
make a list to work out a budget so planning a bit ahead.
- If needing to pump due to FT work (ie 8+ hrs away from baby), I guess
an electric pump would be best?
- What are your recommendations?
Is there a reason to rent...

Yay hey! by

We made it to a year and DS doesn't seem to be allergic to dairy any more no
rashes when he eats it and weight gain is good too. In the last month he has
put on another whole pound and so is still bounding up the percentiles.
To all those of you in the early days of feeding here is my one bit...

How common is REAL low milk supply by
Clare L
Following on from a previous post where someone was saying that their
co-worker quit cos they didn't have enough milk, I was wondering how many
mums really have a low milk supply as opposed to just thinking they do.
Having read recently that in some parts of the world grand-mothers relactate
to...

Erm how did this happen by
Clare L
15 months on and here we still are.
Just once a day now - first thing in the morning and there was me thinking
the one before bed would be the last one to go.
I'm sure other children sense the milk in me - had one little chap resting
his head on my knees this morning as I was talking to him mum at...
