looking for other perspectives (very long) by
Paula
I will start this by apologizing for the length. I want to be sure to
give all relevant information from the start, and to do that I must
cover a couple of years worth of information.
I've Google'd and found only a handful of threads that are close
enough in circumstance to apply. I've tried to...

Spousal Debate: Time to Oneself by
Sonnie B.
My wife and I are having a friendly debate, and I was wondering what
your opinon may be.
I'm a stay-at-home dad with two kids under 4. My wife works full time
(40 hrs). I mentioned to her that she gets a lot of time to herself
and that I would enjoy having time to myself like she does. She...

Help! Toddler left in car question by
nimue
I was recently in Tucson with a friend of mine and we went to check on a
rental property she owns. Her 2 year old was in the car seat, napping, and
my friend left her there when we went to check the house. The windows were
all down (this thanks to me -- my friend thought you could leave the...

Celebrating Menarche by
Wendy
Is there some nice thing that mothers do with their daughters when they
first start their period? All my mother did was point out the uses of
cold water. Can I do better than this?

Why do parents keep doing this? by
Lyle Benson
I'm a teen-ager and since the moment I found out what happened to me I
felt angry about it. Once I found what goes on during the procedure
and what is lost, I felt sick.
I know I was robbed of something special, and I'll never know what sex
is really supposed to feel like.
Why the hell do parents...

When did daycares become "schools"? by
P. Tierney
Is it just my area, or are more and more parents who send their 1-3
year olds to daycares refer to them as "schools"? If so, why? Are
the parents trying to make themselves feel better about where their
kids are, or are the daycares trying to pump themselves up in some way?
I don't get it. I've...

Mom goes AWOL from Iraq - says children need her at home by
John Stone
A woman on 15 day leave in the US from Iraq is refusing to return
to Iraq - she says her 7 children need her at home and that she is quitting the
military. The US govt. says otherwise and may prosecute her for desertion.
Apparently her husband is also in the military and the childrens grandmother...

Who the heck are these kids talking to at lunch anyway? by
bizby40
There have been a couple of threads recently that involved cell phones. If
you've read the first one, you know that I am not a fan of cell phones. My
kids may very well be the only high schoolers in town that don't have
them -- though with my oldest being only 9, I do have quite a while...

What studies? All I see is an opinionated allusion from a pothead.
Please be specific. And how can we study people who are doing
something illegal? Do we arrest them after the study is completed, or
let them skate away? I'm especially interested...

Spirited boys in cub scouts revisited by
bizby40
You might remember a few months ago I was asking
what we could/should do about these two rather
spirited boys in our den -- the only two whose
parents never showed.
Well, I listened to the advice at the time, but as I'm
not the den leader, I couldn't do much more than
drop a suggestion here or...

A little confused -- this flu thing??? by
dejablues
Weren't people in high risk groups supposed to have gotten them several
months ago? Then the leftovers would have been for the lower-risk people.
In non-severe flu years, those lower-risk people would have been okay with
no shot, but they say this is a bad year. SO............shots for all!

Do you "correct" others' kids? by

In another thread someone mentioned that her kids were jumping on the
coffee table when her friend's kids started it. So that made me
thinking.. Sorry if this was discussed here before.
This happened to us in the past. I didn't have kid(s) then. Anyways,
if you have visitors and if their kids...

Virginia Tech Massacre and Campus Security by

Virginia Tech Shooting
At Virginia Tech some of the students moved tables in front of the
door to try to keep the gunman from comming in. Because there was no
way to lock the door. A few years back there was a shooting at a
college or University in Canada. Can't remember the name of the
school....
