Am I the only one who finds this easy? by Nina
I've never had a problem breastfeeding my kids all the way to about 28 months. I may have needed advice or suggestions on some things, but for the most part it has been easy as pie, and I've enjoyed it. Is it just me??

Book Recommendation by Amy
I'm only 50 pages in, but I have to recommend "What No One Tells the Mom" by Marg Stark. Her other book, "What No One Tells the Bride" basically saved the first year of my marriage, and this one is every bit as good. I wish I'd had it months ago. I've just had a very personal, and yet very HUGE...

Bragging Time by New York Jen
I took Laszlo for his 2 year well toddler check up today. He's just under 32 pounds and they couldn't get an accurate height reading because he wouldn't cooperate, but the shorter end of what he measured was 34 1/4 inches and that puts him in the 50th percentile. The pediatrician said that his...

Have milk, but it won't drain by Lady Penelope Creighton-Ward
Anyone encountered this problem: the breasts are filling up, I can feel the ants crawling along the side, the baby has been latching on perfectly (per lactation consultant), yet not a drop of anything is coming out, and I've had to start feeding her formula. She's four days old. I've just rented a...

Hi there, Im a newby ... just came from mkp. In a couple of days I will be induced, and so therefore I am reading up as much as I can on breastfeeding. Now, I've read a lot, and done a lot of thinking as to what I want to do. I am going to breastfeed, but I am also going to formula feed as well...

1st Newborn Doc Appointment by Carol Ann
Morgan had her first doctor's appointment today. Here's the breakdown: ~The hospital miscalculated her length. Today she was 20.5" so that means that she was NOT 19" at birth. Seems she is in the upper percentile for height. YIPPEE!! ~She is 7.9 oz. That is up 1 oz from her birthweight.

Minor vent by CY
oht Grrr, I just had to vent here because nobody else appreciates how I feel... My just turned one yr old niece has been weaned because "hardly any milk is coming out now" and my SIL wants to start "drinking and smoking pot" again. When I said "wow, I guess partying must be a big part of her...

Hospital policies! Any suggestions? I need advice. by DeliciousTruffles
A bit of history: I'm 37 and attempting a VBAC (sectioned because twin 'A' was a footling breech) in a regional hospital. This means I am considered by them a "high-risk" and they will section me at the first sign of trouble because they are not equipped to do a section immediately (it would...

Planning to formula feed by Lauren
Just interested in opinions here on the point of planning to formula feed even before a baby is born (or perhaps even conceived). Unplanned pregnancies and exceptional circumstances aside, I can't help but wonder that if it is too much trouble for a parent to even plan to attempt to breastfeed (or...

your opinion please ( baby traveling away from mom) by oregonchick
My husband is from Germany. All his family is still there (We're in the US). He travels back there for business trips about once a year, and this year it will probably be in August. He wants to take the baby with him to drop off at his parents while he is there on business for a whole...

What does breastfeeding advocacy mean to you? by Mum of Two
There is a lot of debate raging on parenting bulletin boards about breastfeeding advocacy, how it should be done, why it's necessary, if it's necessary etc. It seems like a lot of people are offended by BF advocacy itself - or what they perceive it to be - and as such there is a bit of a backlash...

cosleeping and crawling by jake's mom
Hi all, For all of you cosleepers--how do/did you all deal with your little one crawling in the bed? DS is 7 months old and cosleeps part of the night with me--then part of the night with DH. I go to work in the middle of the night so DH has him alone in bed for half of the night. We are both...

Cloth diapers (x-posted) by Fer
You'd think I'd know this one but it has been quite a long time since I've cloth diapered a babe. So my question to all you cloth diapering mommies out there is...just how many do I need to buy?! I'll probably do prefolds since I didn't like the fitted ones. Oh, and how many covers per...

OT sort of - resuming relations after baby by determined
I know this is going to sound just awful, but my daughter is 11 months old now, and my husband and I have only had sex about 6 times since she was born... I feel really horrible, but at first I was so exhausted I couldn't care less, and now, I've been bleeding and cramping since August when I...

Oops . . . by Leslie
As usual, I have been having computer problems. This time it is two viruses that ate my hard drive. I have been offline for over a month, and it will probably be close to that before I get it back. And I really miss "talking" to everyone here . . . and I need some support right now . ....

co-sleeping and SIDS by Leslie
I read an article in the paper this morning about a two-week-old who died of SIDS. His mother is using the tragedy as a springboard for a campaign requiring by law that 1) all parents be CPR certified before leaving the hospital and 2) that all parents of infants must have a baby monitor that...
