Bad pumping day by
HollyLewis
I looked down at the pump and saw that the little
silicon thingy that creates the suction in an Isis was
covered in soapy foam, which was climbing up the horn (never
happened before). So now I have a two ounce bottle (Bottle
A) of potentially detergent-ful, almost thin enough to...

How did this happen? ( late start of bfing) by
ted
After my baby was born I couldn't immediately nurse her. So I rented
Lactina and pumped 2/3 times in total the first two days. Then I came
home and started giving her formula that the ped at hospital gave me.
I pumped may be 5 times in total the whole of first week. The second
week I never pumped...

Baby Joey update by
Karen Askey
We took Joey to the cleft palate clinic last week for his 2nd evaluation. At 4
months, he happily surprised the group with his chubbiness and overall good
health. This momma was told that her cleft-affected baby would be a slow
gainer and likely have numerous ear infections. Well, he was in the...

bfing & day care ( colds) by

Those babies that go to daycare while fully on breastmilk.. I

do they catch colds like their formula buddies but just recover

sneezing?

Article on weaning by
Shannon
I found this article on weaning in a local "Parents and Kids" online paper.
http://www.townonline.com/parentsandkids/news/news/pak_feapkweanaug07252003.htm.
I was surprised at how open-minded it was, and generally okay with the idea
of child-led weaning. With the thread about weaning that just...

childcare again by
Dawn Lawson
Color me bitter and jaded, I guess.
Seems that daycares in this area are a) full, b) not taking infants
under 19mo, c) not taking PT children, d) not approved for subsidy.
I need so damn little childcare....3 spells of about 4 hrs each and
maybe an evening here and there
Anyone have any good ideas...

constipation during weaning by

OK, I'm using the word "weaning" here in the UK sense to mean introduction

thawed ebm by
jake's mom
Does thawed EBM have an odor to it? I have just thrown 2 thawed EBM bottles
out because they had an odor--kind of like a plastic smell or maybe freezer
burn--it really bothers me to throw any bm out but better safe than sorry.
Our freezer door was left open for a few hours a couple of weeks ago...

Egg Yolk Question by
Naomi Pardue
At her appointment her Dr told us we could start to give her egg yolk mixed
in with her cereal a few times a week, does anyone know why we should do
this? DH and I never thought of asking him. Should I be doing this or s
hould I not?
I know of no pressing reason TO do it, but there's no...

18 month old's nursing habits by

I just wondered what everyone else's experiences with extended nursing is...
My 18 month old is still nursing like a champ, at least every 4 hours, and
still not that interested in solid food although she has her days when she
eats and eats and eats.
I was just reading a post about a 15 mth old...

My nipples are still very sensitive more than 2 weeks into bfing Liam.
They aren't cracked (afaict)
There are white spots on the...

My DH and I get alot of "concern" from people about how we are raising
our DS and how he is going to react to his new Sister (we just found out
on Monday). They seem to think since he has had so much attention and
is still bf and still co-sleeps with us that it's going to be a big
problem. Sear's...

beside me. I nurse her to sleep. I don't know how much she gets during

Delurk for a question by

Hi everyone...I've been lurking here for 18 mths or so (anyone around that
long might remember a few posts I made when the National Post printed a
letter of mine protesting a ridiculous bottle-feeding image). My DS is now
30 mths old and nurses 2-3 times daily weekdays (when I work) and 4-6...

what is "supplementing" by
Stephanie
I do not understand "supplementing." Does this work for some people
and still allow you to breastfeed? It seems to me like a recipe for
spiralling toward exclusing bottle feeding. If you are not making
enough milk, how is supplementing going to get you to make enough
milk? What is the end game...
