sleepy nurser by
Con
I have a three month old (two month premature) and we are just
starting to get in the hang of breastfeeding. I have been tempted
many times to quit but know how important it is to my preemie. A
couple frustrating issues have just developed: 1) feeding more
frequently now that I am feeding on...

I met Caterpillar today! by
Jodie
And what a cutie she is! Phoebe and I met at a local library for a
storytime for babies. We had a very nice visit, and hopefully will meet
again next week.
Just thought I'd share what a great job Phoebe is doing. Caterpillar
has got to be one of the happiest babies I've met. How neat it was...

Vent--Comfort Sucking & Sleep Issues by
Kathy
I just really need to vent...thanks in advance to anyone who reads this.
When I decided to BF our DD (5 weeks, 5 days old...exclusively BF) I had
no idea how hard it was going to be...
Before I say anything else, let me say I really do LOVE BF'ing...really.
I enjoy the actual act of BF'ing...it...

HELP! Cow's milk intolerance? by
CarolynRS1
I drank a large glass of milk late yesterday afternoon (around 5-5:30 pm). My
one week old DD started having major gas problems starting at midnight and it's
still going strong.
I have not really drank any milk since I started BFing so I am wondering if she
has an intolerance to cow's milk in BM....

one more question--about hormones by
CarolynRS1
The hormones are driving me nuts. I am not sure if it's BFing hormones or PP
hormones. It does not take much to make me weepy and I am having hot flashes.
I am driving myself and DH nuts! It's not PPD. I'm just very ultra-sensitive.
Most of all--I feel extemely happy to be a mom to 2 wonderful...

Exclusive BF is so awesome by
Akuvikate
So far in the Bug's 4 and a half months on Earth, aside from mum milk
she's had nothing but a few doses of tylenol and mylicon, and perhaps
a bit of bathwater here and there. Last night as she was nursing off
to sleep I looked at her and realized that every molecule of this
little human being --...

Child Development Calendar by
Naomi Pardue
At the preschool where I work there is this "child development calendar" put
out by the state of Indiana, posted on the bulletin board. It has information
on what parents can expect as their babies grow, and various types of advice.
I was flipping through it today, looking to see what it had to...

milk supply, night weaning, pumping, and menstruation questions by
Cathy Weeks
My daughter, who is 22.5 months old, is an enthusiastic nurser, and I
look forward to continuing our nursing relationship as long as she and
I both want to continue it.
But, as the mother of an older nursling I now have some questions that
aren't addressed specifically in the books.
1. I'm still...

Sore nipples (A real post... ^.^) by
AlenasMom
Okay.. Alena's latch is perfect. No biting, but she does clamp down
sometimes.
Now my nipples feel like they've been partially ripped off.
They're really sore and anything touching them hurts!!!
What should I do?

Constipation and rash by

I have never done a formal intro here, but I suppose since I am actually
posting an on topic post here I should!
I am a SAHM to DD who is 20 months. I've been married for 8 yrs and moved
to the US from the UK about 9.5 yrs ago. I used to be a computer trainer
but gave up the office life to be a...

Sleepy nurser? by
Gorgon Park
My 9 day old DD is a very sleepy nurser. She will suck until the first
letdown, then will swallow and fall asleep. DH and I do everything we can
to keep her awake and interested, but it is getting tiring for all of us.
She is wetting and dirtying diapers at an amazing rate (in the last 24
hours,...

Night nursing and teeth question revisited by
AmyAmy4734
Okay, I should be able to answer my own question, but I have found that I am
beginning to wonder about cause and effects. My older daughter nursed at night
until age 2. At that time, I night weaned her because she had dental caries in
all of her upper teeth. Now, I have a 7 month old who has two...

Gluten and lactose free foods? by
Shawn or Wiltrud Auman
Lately Sarah (19 months!) often woke up 2-3 hours after going to bed and
was crying. To me she seemed to have some discomfort. After eliminating
ear problems and she has no cold we are now trying dietary changes. I
tried a couple of days without wheat and she seemed better. Then she had
a lot of...

HELP! 9mo doesn't like formula (crossposted slightly) by
Dawn Lawson

How about *this* plan of action:
Instead of telling people to ignore medical advice, since you have *no*
credentials yourself, suggest that people take Hale's book as a cite, and
present that to their physician and pediatrician.

Solo flight by
Dawn Lawson
DS did a solo "launch" today for the first time. I went out of the room
we were in, and suddenly wondered who was walking into the room.....DS!!
Until today, he's only walked if he was "launched" by holding the back
of his shirt and then letting go when he started off.
Today he's been walking all...

We stopped solids! by
Andrea
A few of you will know that I tried Kam on solids, but after having them for
4 days his eczema became much, much worse. I think it's down to the dairy
content. Also I am switching him to soya milk for the odd occasions that he
has formula. I stopped the solids after 4 lots, and Kam has now gone...
