son is often tired by
Stephanie[_2_]
My son is very often tired. I am a firm believer in the importance of sleep!
I think the main problem is that his mind is always thinking and moving. He
has a hard time stilling his mind. He will lay awake in bed playing in his
head all sorts of pretend games.
One thing that definitely helps is...

that much.
An Arkansas woman has given birth to her 15th child -- and her family says
she wants more.

Easy to clean highchair recs? by
Cheryl S.
I have a Graco NeatSeat and I'm sick of cleaning it. The tray is big,
heavy and awkward to maneuver (for me) and it allows tons of food to
fall down into the seat so I have to take out the pad, which is also
large, and clean that and the whole seat after every meal. It is too
time consuming and I...

Does "TV Allowance" work to manage kids' TV time? by
THW
We're having some trouble keeping our 8- and 11-year old boys from watching
too much TV/Nintendo. In particular, it's difficult for my wife, who has to
work from home some afternoons, to make sure the kids are doing homework
instead of parking themselves in front of the TV.
We've read about a...

Is a 2 door car practical for new baby? by
David
My wife and I are expecting our first child next summer which will
mean changing our two seater car for something a bit more practical.
I was thinking along the lines of needing a 4 door family saloon since
it would be easier to lift the baby in and out than a three door car,
but then it got me...

Military recruiters..any moms of teenage males here? by
dejablues
I don't know how if this is usual, but my OS, 15, has gotten a couple of
pieces of mail, addressed to him, from various branches of the military. I
mentioned it at Thanksgiving, and my SIL, whose oldest son turns 18 in
January, said that recruiters have been calling him at home! They asked him
a...

Slightly OT - leaving 5 mo old for a day by
Kari
My 8 yr old has a dance competition on the 3rd of April. Up until tonight I
was planning on it being a 2 day affair but I just found out that her team
only performs one of those days. We'd have to leave by 6am to get to the
site by 9am and she has to stay until the awards ceremony that...

Early Kindergarten or not? by
Rosalie B.
My dd has a dd who was 4 in October, but she is a very capable, bright
and I think advanced 4 yo. She is quite big for her age, and very
well coordinated.
For example, she is one of the biggest on her soccer team even though
they are 4 and 5 year olds and she's one of the youngest. She can
swim,...

I'm selling them all to the gypsies! by
Circe
Oh, boy, I love my kids, but sometimes, they really test me! Since I took
over from Ninian (my au pair) less than an hour ago, it has been a non-stop
whine-, fight-, cryfest. Aurora has peed her pants (got to the bathroom just
a tad too late), Vernon has tripped and fallen twice, and Julian stubbed...

Hiccupy child by
Circe
My daughter gets the hiccups on the order of 3-5 times per day. They seem
particularly likely to come on if she starts crying for any reason. She's
old enough now that they bother her. I can usually cure them by giving her a
teaspoon of sugar (drinking water doesn't seem to help), but I hate to...

speaking of homeschooling... by

I am not sure if it was in this newsgroup, but somewhere recently I was

under that definition. Serendipitiously the subject of homeschooling also
came up when I was talking to some colleagues the other day...

Screaming toddler by
Circe
I know that screaming is quite normal behavior in toddlers. Vernon's
screaming doesn't generally bother me, and it's mostly of the good-natured,
happy squealing variety (although we do, of course, get the occasional
temper-tantrum version as well). The reason I'm posting is because there are
two...

What do I do with an unneeded carseat? by
Cheryl S.
What do you do with a carseat that is in perfect condition, that you
don't need anymore? My seat has stamped into it that it is good until
December 2007. "They" say not to use second hand carseats, so that
would mean I shouldn't give it to anyone, but it seems a complete waste
to just throw this...

baby bathtub by
daisy
Hi
My 5.5 month old son is now getting too big for his infant tub that I use in
the kitchen sink, but he cant sit on his own to use the "big tub" yet. Does
anyone have any suggestions on a good support that we could use to bathe him
in the big tub?
TIA
