My wife and I are having our first child in February, and we're getting alot of advice from alot of people, but the one thing we're curious about is bumper pads for the crib. What is everyone's view on bumper pads in the crib?

Karen, due April 24 with number 2. I was pregnant earlier this year, but miscarried at 8 weeks, just after we started telling people, so this time we decided to wait a bit longer to make sure everything was progressing. I am 13+ weeks now and feeling well other than being rather tired earlier in...

Milk Banks in the UK x-posted by Andrea
I found an article with the names of the participating UK hospitals. http://tinyurl.com/ry7o I am going to contact them myself. It mentions women being put off by the HIV screening, but they test for that during pregnancy anyway, so moms would already know. -- Andrea mom of 5 - latest addition...

Safely into 2nd trimester? by Jill
At what point do you feel like you are safely into your second trimester? For example, I don't know how accurate a sonogram is in telling you "you are 8 weeks along today" etc, but if this makes sense I am wondering when you can officially feel you are in your 2nd trimester? If my doctor wants me...

Valerie's birth story (LONG!) by Jeanne Clelland
I mostly lurk here, but I thought I'd post my birth story anyway! Short version: Valerie Anne was born at home on Monday, October 13, 2003 at 3:31 P.M., one day after her due date. She weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces and was 20-1/2 inches long. We had a wonderfully smooth, problem-free home birth,...

New Baby - Dad not as excited as he thought by paul williams
Hi, Before the recent birth of my first child 5 days ago I expected to very happy and very proud etc... However, I'm not that excited. In fact, I'm very stressed and just see the negative side of the all the hard work involved. I'm feeling very guilty about this indeed. Is this normal? My wife...

When should Braxton-Hicks start? by Mom2B
Yesterday evening my stomach muscles felt really tight - I initially thought it was because I was really tired and spent a long evening cooking and entertaining guests. Could it have been Braxton Hicks? I'm 28 weeks. When do they normally start and what do they feel like? EDD 12th Jan 2004 #1
