ESR by Anne Rogers
aka erythrocyte sedimedtaion rate I had this test about 3 weeks before Ada was born, but I did not get the result, nor did they apparently get sent to anyone, of if they did, everyone though someone else was dealing with it. The result has just been unearthed from my medical notes and has been...

reassure me, please by Anonymama
Today I had a sonogram, as part of a screening for birth defects -- I'm at 11 weeks. Everything looked fine EXCEPT for, possibly, maybe, "some fluid around the heart." Of course the doctor doing the sonogram wouldn't tell me what that means -- it's something I have to ask my regular doctor about,...

Lochia question by Amy
Hi all, In the birth prep class, they said the lochia would go from red to pink to yellow to white. Mine went from red to brown, more like a period. Is this normal? I have my postpartum checkup next week, but I'm too curious for that. I have no idea how to google this, either. Thanks, in...

Pillows by Jamie Clark
Someone gave us a very small child's pillow with a pretty embroidered pillow case when Taylor was born. It's the size of an airline pillow, and pretty flat. I put it in her crib around 15 months. At that age, they are strong enough to move themselves out of the way, and I don't think suffocation...

Birth question by Andrea S
I have had not so good experiences when giving birth. This is our last baby now, due in 5 weeks. Have you tried HypnoBirthing? I am wondering if that is something good, or have you any other suggestions? I cope well during labour then lose it when dilated. Afterwards I have no interest in holding...

worried about the gestational diabetes test by oregonchick
My OB wants me to have this done before I go in for my next exam. I am worried about how my body will react, because I have spent the last 3 years eating a relatively low carb diet. I just don't eat simple carbs very much anymore. Not atkins or anything drastic, but I don't drink sodas or...

Posterior Orientation and technique for correction by maatt

41w --- hospital calls early by Emily
Well, it's 9/12, and I haven't gone into labor on my own. So this morning the instructions were to wait for the hospital to call to say when to come in. They did, at 6:20am. We're to be there at 8! It seems strange to me to labor during the day, I have to say, but having a full (more or less)...
