More on the nursing strike - day 6 by
Cathy
Well, DD (14 months is still fighting the breast. I am offering, but she
just squirms and screams. She saw me expressing this a.m. and looked really
keen, so I got her teddy and said 'teddy likes milkies', and then tried DD,
but no. She seems better in herself, the sore throat looks less red,...

Elana Kehoe
I'm back here, dying on dial up (so used to DSL now!).
Jen, many congrats on Lily! Hope all is well there!
Any other announcements that I missed?
P is nursing like a champ...more milk than solids these days and waking
during the night still. But I think it's cause he's trying to figure

Amount to feed? by
Wrangler 4x4
My wife and I are confused about how long she should nurse. She has a
gut feeling our son isn't getting enough. On average the feedings last
about 20-25 min. There are times though, that he will nurse for an
hour. Should we stop him after a certain amount of time? When we feed
him her milk in...

age for citrus fruits? by
All4meUC
What is an acceptable age to try citrus fruits, such as orange ? I seem to
remember that it isn't one of the first you should give, or tomatoe? Am I
thinking right? DS is 7 mos, he's had blueberries and liked them. He's not so
keen on apples or pears, maybe they aren't tart enough for his...

Trouble is, when he wakes up at night he fights going back to sleep
and unless restrained by firm hugging will crawl all over us, headbutt
the wall by mistake, try to climb up the sofa.......it all ends in
tears.
I feel bad...

Breast Pump Recommendation by
Ann
Looking for advice in my situation: I have an Avent Isis that I used
with my first babe for the occasional bottle, and I was never really
successful pumping ... the most I'd get after about 20 minutes was 1-2
oz. (I tried pumping every day, tried it when babe was nursing, tried
it first thing in...

Ben's 6 month WBV by
Karen
15.2 (8%)and 26.8 inches (51%) (although Marilyn thinks he looks
longer and the nurse mismeasured him)
His ear is a little red but the fluid is clear and she thinks it's
viral. So we're watching it. His lungs are clear (he had bronchitis
last week). She thinks he is great! Very strong and well...

Oops . . . by
Leslie
As usual, I have been having computer problems. This time it is two viruses
that ate my hard drive. I have been offline for over a month, and it will
probably be close to that before I get it back.
And I really miss "talking" to everyone here . . . and I need some support
right now . ....

Lily's Birth Story (Long) by
New York Jen
I woke up at 3:30 am on March 13 with a painful contraction. Since I had
some of these for two nights preceding Laszlo's actual arrival, I discounted
that they were real labor and tried going back to sleep. Didn't work. By
5:30 the contractions were more regular and getting increasingly painful....

I'm looking for a baby pouch or sling for a friend who must be a

I have read reviews on Baby Bjorn, Nojo, Over the Shoulder, and the
Maya Wrap Sling and pouch. It seems to me that the Maya is well-liked
but I still would like to...

been looking at other options. I came across saliva fertility monitors
like the Lady Q (http://tinyurl.com/2ccfl). Has anyone here used

Sling/carrier rec? by
Deirdre
I'm sure this has been covered here before, so I hope you'll forgive the redundancy --
My little bean is 10 weeks old and about 11 pounds or so. I've tried a couple of different carriers (Snugli, EuroRider) and a "SlingRider" sling, and loathe all of them.
The carriers feel like they're made by...

repost: egg allergies (possibly OT) by
Barbara Warner
Just found out our 15 month old twins have an allergy to eggs. Doesn't
look overly severe at this point, but we're doing a strict elimination
diet for them, and are hoping they'll outgrow it (We don't have a
history of allergies in either family so hope that the chances are good.)
I've been doing a...
