168 on the 1-hr glucose test by
Lady Penelope Creighton-Ward
I just did the 1-hour glucose test yesterday as part of the screening
for gestational diabetes (I'm now at 29 weeks), and this morning
received a call from the nurse telling me I scored 168, and their
cut-off point was 140 (or 145, I forget what she said).
While I hadn't had any breakfast I did...

Stroller VS sling/baby carrier by
Lady Penelope Creighton-Ward
Okay, the questions from me are going to start coming in more and more
now that the baby is nearly there (due in mid-February)!
I am interested in using a baby carrier like the Baby Bjorn as much as
possible, and was wondering realistically how much I'll need a stroller
and how soon. I find the...

alarming weight gain - post pregnancy weight loss plan by
oregonchick
I am now past 38 wks, and haven't been on the scale for awhile. Hopped on
last night and was amazed to see 170! I started out at 125... This is of
course in the evening, when I'm generally full of dinner, and I am starting
to swell a bit, but still, I can't believe how big I am. My Large...

Q for co-sleepers by
Lady Penelope Creighton-Ward
I am curious about your practical experience as co-sleeping parents on
the following questions:
1. How do you deal with the child needing to go to bed before you?
2. What do you do for daytime naps?
3. Does your child exhibit crankiness in the evenings at bedtime and
refuses to go to sleep? (I've...

email appropriate to let people know? by
Linda
Just about to make up a contact list for DH to let people know when baby
arrives, (still got 5 weeks, but just getting organized) and I was wondering
in general what people think about emailing family/friends. I guess
immediate family would probably merit a call, but what are people's thoughts
in...

Hi everyone,
Little John has had a rough week. Hes had a fever the last few days of

rash on both cheeks. We treated him with the typical otc infant stuff
to keep the fever in check and now his fever is gone. Heres the...

The fatal blow for fluoridation (also: Cities that voted the Fout of the water) by
Todd Gastaldo
THE FATAL BLOW FOR FLUORIDATION
PREGNANT WOMEN: Please breastfeed - but if you must bottlefeed - please do
NOT use fluoridated water to reconstitute your baby's formula. Fluoride is

questions by
April & Bump
Hi all
When would be a good time to work out my birth plan, I am now 27 wks
pregnant so is now a good time or is it too early. I never really bothered
with my last two births but am thinking about doing one with this one.
How about the hospital bag, is it too early or should I be thinking...

cough suppressants by
Anonymama
Are any nighttime cough suppressants safe to take while pregnant? (I can
check with a nurse by phone, but I've found it works best if I call with
a specific brand rather than asking them for a list.) I've had a
terrible cough the last few nights and fantasize about the bottle of
codeine cough syrup...

Can anyone advise. There seems to be so much information to read out

Unsuccessful TTC by
ChitaShines
If all conditions are perfect for TTC (i.e., ovulation is happening, the
test line of an OPT is very purple indicating it's the best time to TTC),
what would cause the egg & sperm to not meet up thus resulting in an
unsuccessful pregnancy?

Triple Screen as standard procedure? by
cjra
Is this just the normal thing in pregnancy now?
I had my 8wk visit today, and all is well...I'm only 'high risk'
because I m/c'd once and am 36. Otherwise no risk factors, so OB is
just watching things carefully right now. I did chicken out on
reminding her I planned to go back to my midwife after...

Faintness by
Mogget
For a couple of weeks now I've been feeling very faint at times. I
haven't actually fainted but it has come close. It always happens in
the shower, could easily happen if I am standing still, and even when I
am sitting up.
I'm wondering if it could be low blood pressure or lack of...
