Should I prop up baby's matress on slight incline? by
somebody
I noticed that my 2 1/2 month old son occasionally sounds congested in the
morning. We live in the northeast U.S. about 20 miles north of
Philadelphia, where the pollen is horrible. I myself have been congested
since it is springtime. So my guess would be that it might be the pollen.
It's...

Moral Dilemma by
Anthony Summers
You are standing on top of a platform from which you cannot get down.
You are dressed in a set of pajamas and no shoes. On the platform with
you is a 6-month old child.
Across from you is a building which has been packed with explosives by
terrorists who are now dead. There are 200 people in...

Talking about death to a 3 year old? by
Avid Fan
My mother died recently. I used take my son over on a weekly
fortnightly basis (I saw her more frequently after work) I used to take
them out to lunch to try to get her to eat more.
I have totally avoided the topic. My son was in day care the day of the
funeral
Now my three year old boy...

Swimming classes ineffective by
Ignoramus18183
My older son attended numerous swimming classes, which still could not
teach him to swim. My observation was that they taught him everything
except swimming, such as splashing water, jumping in water, etc.
This is understandable from a commercial point of view, as it is much
more profitable to...

Mistreatment of Classroom Animals? by
The Ranger[_3_]
I am chuffed at a recent experience.
I had multiple terrariums and aquariums set up throughout the classroom with
critters as complex as a red-eared slider and as simple as silkworms. My
philosophy behind this is quite simple: Exposure to everything and anything
offers understanding and...

Eliminating Conflict? by
The Ranger[_3_]
On k12.chat.teacher, the admin posted the link below to the article. I also
added my answer after that.
What do you think? Are we producing a whole age-range of children incapable
of dealing with conflict?

Michael's children by
wrdnfrky
Those kids have a weird look on their faces, a kind of blank stare, like
they're always looking straight ahead without seeing anything. It reminds
me of the movie Children of the Corn. They're like programmed robots.
Interesting that their biological father wouldn't recognize them on Larry...

The four grossest kid health problems by

Fat kids got 'em all.

Kids plus germs often equals extreme yuckiness (think stomach flu). But
there are some childhood afflictions that -- even though they're not at
all dangerous -- are (how to put this?)...

pneumonia by
Welches
Just wondered if any of the medical people on here could throw any light on
this.
My 8yo has just been diagnosed with pneumonia. (Not swine flue related)
after complaining of a sore shoulder. The infection is in the top left lob,
which according to the doctor is unusual.
What I'm wondering is...
