update on Max by Vicky Bilaniuk
Well, the poor little guy has a bladder infection! He's on his first antibiotic. :-( Poor kid. So now, along with an ultra sound for his hip, he's going to get an ultra sound to see if anything is up with his bladder and attachments, since it's rather odd for an infant this young to have a...

IUD Update 2(Sort of -- pretty OT) by Naomi Pardue
I posted a few weeks back about the problems I was having with my Mirena IUD, that I seemed to be allergic to it. After talking to an allergist and my gyn we weighed my options and I decided to have it out. To deal with the constant/irregular bleeding that was sure to follow (the main reason I had...

excellent first midwife appointment by Anne Rogers
I had my first appointment with the midwife yesterday, she came to our house, which was helpful for me as ds slept part of the time and we were able to be relaxed and take our time over things. It was mainly form filling, which included some exchange of information, for example I needed to update...

Heavier periods after giving birth? (gross) by Carlye
Hey, I have a question: Is it your experience that after giving birth, your periods are heavier than they were before? I ask because I am having my first period following the birth of my daughter. It was "forced" by birth control pills (which I stopped taking after only 6 days since they seemed...

37 week by Zaz
Good news! The contractions I *thought* I'd been having over the past week are indeed contractions, not just Braxton-Hicks. They have been acting up on my cervix, which has thinned and softened - no dilatation as of yesterday, though. The appointment was with my backup midwife and her student, so...

Larger than average babies by Wendy
Anyone know the reason babies grow to the size they do in utero? If the baby's size at birth has nothing to do with the size they will be as an adult and nothing to do (apparently) with the size of the parents, or their size at birth, then what determines size? Whew, that's quite a mouthful...LOL....

Antibiotics in baby's eyes? by Zaz
I have to make that decision, and frankly, I am not certain what to do. While our healthcare minister recommends lowering down the administration of antibiotics, it is still law to rub every newborn's eyes with an antibiotic cream. I am given the option to refuse, if I sign an official...

My daily visit to Kroger by Leslie
My BP was all in the 150s on top this time, highest 159, lowest 150. The bottom number was 90 one time, the 80s the other three. Of course, I was actively shopping (l just spent $400--ACK!!) trying to stock up on things the helpless people in my house can cook for themselves. Yes, I AM going to...

Pain on lower left side? by Donna Metler
I'm really starting to feel pain on the lower left side of my abdomen-I KNOW that HELLP pain is upper right quadrant, or more generalized, so I'm not too worried about this being HELLP again, but I don't know what it is, and it bothers me. It's to the point that it really hurts if the baby kicks...

Quickie update (m/c ment) by Ilse Witch
I had my fourth m/c last thursday, to the day exactly a year after my first. It was painful, and I'm still very tired, but I'm also very glad my body coped by itself and I didn't need a D&C. It feels good it is over now and I can move on with my life. We'll probably jump onto the TTC bandwagon soon...

Baby Bjorn question by Amber
At what age is is safe to use the Baby Bjorn front carrier? DD is 2 weeks and 9 pounds 7 ounces as of yesterday. I used the Bjorn with DS2, but not until later on. DD is wanting to be held a lot, which I don't mind. But, it would come in handy if I could use the Bjorn. So, what age is too...

Addie's Adoption Story by Jamie Clark
Part 1 October 27, 2004 Okay, seeing as Addie turns one month old today (4 weeks exactly), I figured I'd better get her birth/adoption story down before my self-inflicted deadline. Just like me to get it in, just under the wire! The majority of names have been changed for privacy. Of course,...

I must be the worst mother on MKP by Mum of Two
Everyone here is so perfect! It seems you all wear your babies constantly, co-sleep with them when you aren't wearing them, rock them for hours on end while they scream, and manage all this even with a dozen other children besides and a successful career. Those of you who don't have a career...

Jessica Grace is here...and you won't belive *where* she came! by newfy.1
....in the front seat of my freind's Jeep Cherokee in front of the hospital! Yes, that's right. She was 8lbs. 3oz and born sometime around 7:00 on Friday 10/29. Let's just say that I'm living proof that a first babies experience has *nothing* to do with second babies. Matthew was a very...
