Hilarious Humor Column by
JP
Reading Airing My Dirty Laundry, by award-winning writer Jackie
Papandrew, is like diving into a hamper full of hilarity. Jackie airs
out her rather soiled sense of humor about everything under the sun.
Her column appears regularly in parenting magazines and newspapers such
as The Cleveland Plain...

"normal temperature" same for everyone? by
[email protected]
Is normal temperature the same at 98.4 deg F for everyone? I thought
each person has his/her own "normal" body temperature and the average
is 98.4 F. Isn't this correct? My kids tend to be a bit warmer than
98.4 even when they feel perfectly alright.
Thanks.

Inguinal Hernia by
Cherie
My DS, who will soon be 4, suddenly developed a Left Inguinal Hernia. We
will be seeing a pediatric surgeon next Monday to discuss and schedule
surgery. DS was also born with an Umbilical Hernia which our pediatrician
has asked the pediatric surgeon to look at. If its determined that needs to
be...

family diary by
dragonlady
While unpacking stuff, I ran across our old family sketch-book/diary.
It was something I started when we were on our first long road trip: I
just bought a fairly decent spiral bound sketch book and a set of good
colored pencils and markers, and every night I'd bring it into the tent
and let the...

Recommend an OB/midwife in Boston, MA or north? by
Pologirl
I am 23 weeks pregnant and searching for a new OB or midwife in the
Boston Mass area, or north of there.
My baby has a problem, possibly a neural tube defect or a
sacrococcygeal teratoma. Diagnosis still is not certain. For either
diagnosis, the default standard of care is a scheduled C-section...

teaching by
anna
Hi all.
Who could suggest anything, I would be glad for advice.
I am teaching a class of 12 to 13 year olds, and some of them are so
petulant. I am not a teacher. It is a kind of watching children do
their homework and assisting them. Now some of the boys started
claiming, they need no help from a...

Red-shirting, Keeping back, skipping by
Rosalie B.
When I was teaching middle school (late 70s early to mid 80s), I was
simultaneously taking classes for a MAT. One of the people who
promulgated education theory was a man named Jean Piaget. His idea
was that there were several stages of reasoning. The primary ones
that we were concerned with...

five year old headed for MAJOR trouble by
[email protected]
Hi,
I have a five year old little boy, David, that stays with me on the
weekends and with his dad during the week. His father and I are very
different in our parenting skills and tactics. Example, he ask Daivd
well over 10 times very nicely (begging, pleeding) to get in to the
car, I asked nicely...

Ideas sought... by
Chookie
Background: DS2 is turning 1 next week (he is toddling now), and DS1 is 5.
DS1 attends a music lesson after school each week. We drive there, have
afternoon tea (a necessity), go to the 45-min class, and by the time we get
home it's nearly 6pm. The class is a group of 4 kids, involving...

Don't know how to "fix" my 5-year old kid by
Alvaradi
Hi, hope somebody can give me some advise. My kid is a good boy at heart,
likes to hug and kiss (and be hugged and kissed) and also cries a lot when
his 3-year old sister "gets" him. He likes to draw and paint, he also
likes video games a lot which we try to restrict. His mother stays with
them all...

Help -- craft ideas needed by
bizby40
I'm looking for some ideas for crafts at a summer camp. The
requirements are that it is good for ages 9-10, boys and girls, can be
done out of doors, far away from any facilities, and that it be very
inexpensive.
Thanks,
Bizby

HELP...21 Month Old PULLING HAIR by
Jasper
All,
My angel of a daughter is pulling hair at her sitters. When I say
pulling hair, I mean chunks of hair are being pulled out. Anyway,
she's 21 months old, extremely affectionate, cuddly, and typically
harmless. However, about 4 months ago, she started pulling hair, has
recently got worse and...

FYI-Kidsongs DVDs for $1 each at Walmart! by

I found five of these yesterday (and I never go in Walmart). They're in the
cheap discount DVD bins with the classic DVDs. Kidsongs used to be a PBS
show (I haven't seen it recently) and is a nice combination of good quality
singing and dancing (mostly by children). I had a few of the video...
