early placenta previa, no vaginal bleeding by Anne Rogers[_4_]
A friend has been told at about 10 weeks that her placenta is currently over the cervix, she has been reassured it will almost certainly move, but is finding the "no sex" thing rather hard, particularly as she can't back it up with any information. She's had these scans because it's an IVF...

psychiatrists and pregnancy by Anne Rogers[_4_]
http://ajp.psychiatryonline.org/cgi/content/full/160/1/27 I stumbled across this article today and found it really interesting, so thought I'd share. It focuses on the patient response to psychiatrists becoming pregnant. It would definitely apply to psychotherapists and the like and may have...

woo hoo - got the good to go by Anne Rogers[_4_]
I had my 6 week post hip surgery check today, my last question was "how long should I wait before getting pregnant?" and the doc said no need to wait!!!!!!!! There are lots of other reasons why we aren't going to start trying today, but it was so good to hear, I half expected him to suggest it...

now at 42 days by Anne Rogers[_4_]
To my surprise my period still hasn't arrived, I was exceedingly irritable yesterday and assumed it was PMT, but the irritable has passed, giving way to extreme exhaustion, I have narcolepsy, so feeling very tired at spots in the day is par for the course for me, but they usually pass within an...

My period arrived this morning, I thought when it did arrive I'd have some emotion, but I didn't know whether it would be positive or negative, oddly enough I'm not feeling any emotion either way, the only thought was bother it for coming today, which was scheduled to be my busiest day this...

book on the radio by Anne Rogers[_4_]
I heard a trailer for this and was intrigued, it's a true story called "Waiting for Daisy", it must be abridged, I don't know how it ends, so far the eventual mother had been through cancer, a partial molar pregnancy, infertility, miscarriage. I was cautious about posting it as I don't want...

OT cardiology appointment by Anne Rogers[_4_]
Given I mentioned it, I thought some would like to hear an update. It was as I expected, more tests are needed. I suppose before I went there was either the hope that it would be declared normal, or at least an acceptable variation of normal, but no, it's definitely abnormal and needs further...

OT my heart by Anne Rogers[_4_]
I got called yesterday and offered a cancellation for a stress echo test. The results were basically as I expected, the heart is structurally fine with no arrhythmias, it just beats far too fast, at a medium jog, my heart rate hit 220. So it's good news there is nothing structurally or...

OT abnormal periods (TMI!) by Anne Rogers[_4_]
I don't know where else to ask. I'm not TTC, so it's not a case of fixing things for that reason, more for comfort. I had a Mirena fitted after DD, between that and breastfeeding, I didn't have periods until a few days after I had it taken out. Which was about 6 weeks after stopping...

how on earth do you breastfeed after a c-section by Anne Rogers[_4_]
I've just got to ask, I've always wondered, but having had surgery on Wednesday, I'm reminded just how rough you feel, how immobile you are etc. I think with constant help and constant supervision, I would have been able to breastfeed through this, but I really do mean constant help and...

what did you do to plan for a pregnancy (particularly if you areexpecting a difficult one) by Anne Rogers[_4_]
My first two weren't unplanned, but we conceived very quickly after deciding to try for a baby (about 3 days first time, 3 weeks 2nd time), so about the only planning I did was getting some folic acid. I've recently discovered that the advice seems to be to take that for 3mths before conceiving...

gap between children by Anne Rogers[_4_]
it comes up quite often and various people have said the evidence is the optimal gap between birth and conception is 18-30 months, but I don't think I ever looked up where this came from, so could someone provide a link to studies, or whatever it was based on? Cheers Anne

nothing like a crib to make you feel broody by Anne Rogers[_4_]
Last week we transitioned DD (26mths) into a bed, in case it didn't go well, instead of taking down the crib, we moved it into our bedroom and oh boy it's made us both broody. To confuse matters further I'm 2-3 days late, though as far as I can recall, pregnancy is an impossibility. Cheers Anne

reliable drug information by Anne Rogers[_4_]
Does anyone know of any resource similar to the Hales book for breastfeeding, that provides information about drugs and pregnancy? It's easy enough to find the categories out, but with B being "Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate...

clomid info by Anne Rogers[_4_]
A lady mentioned to me she was about to start on clomid, she said she'd have one ultrasound first cycle and then she'd on her own. What I remember from this group is that this is not a great idea and the the ovaries should be monitored by ultrasound 48hrly to check there is no hyperstimulation,...

ultrasound risks by Anne Rogers[_4_]
I'm aware that there is some published research suggesting a slightly reduced weight of the baby and an increase in left handedness in pregnancies with multiple ultrasounds. I'm probably even seen the research at some point in time, but right now I can't find it! Can anyone help? Cheers Anne

Ultrasound by Anne Rogers[_4_]
The terminology just bothers me. I don't like the way it is called a positive test result, when the the risk they give is that low. She must have been prewarned so that she would be looking for heart defects and various soft markers for Down Syndrome. I agree that positive is the wrong...

doula volunteering by Anne Rogers[_4_]
I've set my dreams of midwifery on one side for the moment, it was borderline whether a registration here would transfer to the UK, plus we're not in a situation where I could start midwifery school right now, so everything is on hold until it's clearer where we might be in the long term. A...
