How many uniforms for a kindergartener? by
Donna Metler[_2_]
For those who have/have had children in schools which use uniforms, do you
have any suggestions on how and what to buy? DD will be required to actually
wear the full school uniform for parochial school K in the fall (instead of
the "clothing that adheres to the dress code" that pre-K is...

nintendo ds by
toypup[_2_]
I am thinking of eventually getting my 7 yo son a Nintendo DS. I am
concerned about the feature allowing him to hook up with people through a
WiFi connection. I don't mind him playing with his friend, who lives a
drive away, but I don't want him playing with random people and I don't want...

can you recommend a kids game like this one? by
OhioGuy
My wife got the Snow White DVD from the library last night, and after
watching it, my kids started playing a game that was included on the
second DVD where the kids could arrange different things such as lights,
chairs, beds etc. in a room, changing the color and orientation. They
seem to...

I'm baaack! by
Kat
Well, I think the last time I got around to posting much was on my EDD back
last Saturday and was busy complaining about it being my due date and
absolutely nothing happening.
Well, Tuesday night I had slight kind of cramping - which I've had before
recently, so thought very little about it. I...

Expecting by
James Egan
I'm expecting my first child. Can someone recommend a website or FAQ
which has say the top 10 or 20 tips/hints/safety type information? For
example, no blankets in crib, no bumpers after then can stand, etc.
-Thanks

Want assurances from your pediatrician about vaccines? Here's a form
designed by Ken Anderson you can give them to fill out -- although there is
no physician anywhere on earth...

Rotateq? by
Kat
I took DD3 on Wednesday for her 2 week checkup with the ped. All is fine
and no concerns, but the ped mentioned this "Rotateq", and to my
understanding it's a vaccine or immunization or something for this
rotavirus. I'm not even 100% sure on what rotavirus is, really, other than
it can cause...

Party invitations by
Welches
#2 is pretty sociable, seems to have lots of friends and greets people with
great enthusiasm. However today she received her first party invite since
before Christmas, and I heard a couple of parents of other girls commenting
that they'd had a lot recently. I was a bit surprised as I'd got the...

Foreign Preshool Teachers by
toypup[_2_]
Most of DD's preschool teachers are Spanish speaking with a very strong
accent. I think that is fine and hope DD picks up some Spanish.
However, I do have a slight problem. DD is beginning to learn to read and
write. She can read simple words and can spell some words. If it catches
her...

Child developing an "accent", sort of? by
Donna Metler[_2_]
We're in the southern US, but not an area with a strong regional accent
(dialect, among some populations, yes, accent in standard American English,
no). Recently, my 4 yr old has started using a dipthong on vowels in some
words, which sounds, to my ears, like a Texas twang. Neither her father...

Black DC Children Get Shafted By Liberals by
Vladimir Tschenko
In the Earmarkulus bill that was signed yesterday, as predicted, the
Democrat Party has sold out African-American schoolchildren in
Washington, DC. They did sneak a provision into the Earmarkulus
spending bill that cleared the Senate which closed down the school
choice project in Washington, it's...

Wouldn't Want To Go To School Today by
Way Back Jack[_9_]
If you use as a measuring stick the success you have enjoyed and the
ability to retire in your early 50s, Catholic elementary school in the
1950s and Catholic high school in late '50s-early '60s sho nuff worked
for me. It contributed at least significantly, albeit not totally.
It wasn't for...
