OT - Potty training - can it be child-led? (xpost) by
Cathy Weeks
Hi all,
My daughter is almost two, and all of a sudden has started asking to
sit on the potty. She prefers to do it fully clothed, and while one
of her parents are sitting on the toilet, but I figured it was time to
start reading up on the topic.
My guess is that she's still a bit young for this...

ISIS / PIS comparison by
Stephanie and Tim
ANyone ever done one? I just used my ISIS for the first time. I got 1 ounce
out of my right breast at 1:00pm. This is an UNHEARD OF amount for my right
at this time of day. Usually I get drops, if that.
Just curious if anyone else has an experience to share.

5mth old wrestling while nursing by
teapot
The best way I can describe the Moo at the moment is as a wrestler.
Every time I nurse, unles he is really tired and it is bedtime, he
kicks and squiggles and generally needs restraining on the boob. If I
take him off he cries, if I let him do what he wants he falls off and
cries. And it...

feel bad for being overzealous by
Irrational Number
I sort of reamed into a coworker today because
she brought up the fact AGAIN that she could
not BF her daughter because she did not have
enough milk. Her daughter is 7, so it's a
bit late now... She told me before that she
did not like BF because it was "messy", she
leaked a lot. Then today she...

Rapid Iron Depletion by
Alison
My Health Visitor said that if I was thinking of waiting until 6 months to
begin weaning then I should remember that iron intake rapidly depletes after
6 months with a b/fed baby. How can this be? Surely the iron content is
constant? I know that formula has more but is less readily absorbed. ...

we survived the first month of bf by
Rachel
DD is doing well. Her weight is up to 10.5 - 11 lbs (up from 8 lbs 6
oz at birth) and bf is no longer as difficult. You guys are right - it
does get easier. A couple things we're still working on:
-- She still has periods of constant nursing where she'll nurse every
30 - 60 mins for 3 hours or so,...

you would not believe this by
Anne Rogers
in my very disasterous way I ended up spending last night in hospital, no
reason why I couldn't breastfeed, except for the fact the baby was 5 miles
away. One of the night nurses mentioned they could get a pump for me in
the morning, no probs I thought, and in the morning I asked (by this time
I...

easily disturbed/sleep concerns by

Hello everyone. My son is now a health, huge 3 month old (17lbs). Recently he
has become a very unsound sleeper. At night I will nurse him to the point where
he is so full that he keeps jerking his head away in frustration because he
wants to comfort suck but doesn't want anymore milk. I've tried...

Teeth! Ouchie! by
Andrea
I gave up breastfeeding my others when they were 7-12 months old. It was
given up when they kept biting me.
I vowed to try my best to get through this this time around, and even had a
glimmer of hope when someone here mentioned their baby didn't bite. Not so
lucky, Kamrons biting is getting...

My son (10 days old) is a constant sucker... he likes to be sucking on
something all the time. (just to let you know, I am not a demand feeder, I
have him on a schedule and it works out better for him, my DD and my
self)... any ways He will nurse for well over an hour and I listen for
swallows, he...

Update - child-led potty training by
Cathy Weeks
Well....
Kivi went pee and poop on the potty. Ever since last weekend, when she
asked for the potty, the only encouragement I gave was "hey, Kivi, I'm
going to the bathroom, do you want to go with me?" She would sit on
the potty, usually fully clothed, but at bathtime, with a bare bottom.
Once...

stinkin thrush update :) by
mike and dena
Well, thrush it is. I was without a doubt, but the trip to the doc
confirmed. We were given nystatin, and I am to take oral diflucan. We have a
pacifier rarely used, am throwing it out and will replace if necessary. He
hardly uses it, but don't want to need it and be without. On the upside,
baby...

Feeling inadequate: Can anyone help? by
Kathy
DD (almost 10 weeks old) is a beautiful, healthy baby. She eats very
well, is very smiley and happy, poops and pees as she should and is
growing mentally and physically. So the breastfeeding is working, and I
do feel great about that.
Our trouble area is the sleep department...we are a mess...
