is this normal by
maya
Hi,
My DS (12 days old and 3 weekd before due date) seems to want to sleep
more than 4 hours at times. I have to wake him up to nurse and most
times I am unsuccesful in waking him up. When he does wake up, he
normally only nurses for about 10 minutes on one breast and that's it.
He has plenty of...

breast milk storage recommendation by
maya
Hello everyone,
I am looking into storing breast milk in the freezer. I was not sure if
any brands of storage bags or milk storage systems are recommended over
the others? looked at Medela, Playtex, First Years etc and cannot
decide which to get.... Not sure what to look for, honestly......

Breastfeeding Counsellor - Experiences? by
Suzanne S
Hi,
I am thinking about becoming a breastfeeding counsellor, and I was wondering
if anyone has any experiences that they would tell me about.
I am based in the UK, and I am not currently a member of any BF
organisations. I don't know anything about any of them, either good or bad.
I know that...

interesting rash, any ideas? by
Anne Rogers
Ada developed some spots last week, they instantly looked like fairly bad
acne, rather than blisters that then scabbed over. Basically everything
pointed away from chicken pox. By Sunday they had spread so she has a lot on
one arm and one leg, quite a few on the other arm and leg and the odd...

Question for a friend: Reflux by
CY
My friend's DS is about 3 months old. He is currently exclusively
breastfed, though he has had some supplementing due to bad jaundice in his
early days.
He seems to be suffering from a severe case of reflux and while the
prescribed Zantac seems to be helping, it is not eliminating the...

Cancer and Breastfeeding by
Brookben
My friend is 4 months pregnant and was recently diagnosed with ovarian
cancer. She was really wanting to breastfeed, but her doctors are
telling her she can't because of the treatments she will need once she
has her baby.
I guess I am wondering if anyone on this group has any advice or
comments...

Thrush and GSE? by
[email protected]
Did anyone treat their thrush with GSE (grapefruit seed extract)? Did
it work? How long did you use it to get rid of it?
I've been using the Nystatin, but still have thrush, so I bought GSE
today to try to kick it. I've read that the Nystatin liquid for the
baby has sugar, so I think maybe...

OT and X-posted, need easy car seat for travel by
JJ
Sorry this is a bit OT, but I always get such great advice here. DD is
now 19 months, and DS is due in July. I've been on and off bedrest
for spotting, now off, but not supposed to lift much, exert etc. We
just flew last weekend to my grandfathers 90th bday and we have GOT to
get a smaller car...

Question about stools / dairy elimination by
brandini73
I know it varies depending on the severity of the allergy, but I'm
wondering how long it may take for my son to stop passing blood in his
stool after I've eliminated dairy? I'd love to hear any one else's
experience with this.
Our story is that at 4 weeks he passed his first blood. I...

Multiple let downs while pumping? by
[email protected]
Hi..
I have a 2.5 mo son and I have been BF him since birth. Most nights I
pump once at night while he is sleeping to have a spare bit of milk JIC
for the next day or so.
I have a hospital grade pump (Ameda Elite) and have the right size
flanges, but I seem to only get one let down with the...

back to work - will probably turn out to be a vent by
PK
I'm due back at work tomorrow. Before E was born, i was quite sure I
wanted to go back to work, but now, I keep having second thoughts.
She will be taken care of by my Mom until June, and then will go to a
daycare. It's just, I didn't expect to feel so.. sad. I feel like I'm
neglecting my duty of...

3 week supply problems by
Cheri Stryker
My newest son, Harry, passed his 3 week mark on Wednesday. At his check
on Tuesday, he had gained a pound over his birth weight, and diapers are
all looking good, so we're not too worried about him, at the moment. BUT:
after clortrimazole and gentian violet, my boobs are still killing me,
but in...

co-sleeping while away? by
Linda
We don't currently co-sleep with our 10 week DD and have tried to follow the
recommendations from the SIDS organizations. She sleeps swaddled in a cot
right next to our bed with a breathing monitor under her, and I even wrapped
the matress in her cot. I know, probably going overboard, but I'd...

An intermission before the final curtain by
Sarah Vaughan
OK - tonight I cheated, just a little.
On the last two nights, he's had his dummy in his mouth already when we
went into the bedroom, and so he's just sucked on that as he went to
sleep. Tonight, as I was getting him ready for bed, he put his dummy
down to chew the Vaseline bottle, and so instead...

Preparing to pump - questions by
cjra
I've got a few months before I need to buy anything, but I'm trying to
make a list to work out a budget so planning a bit ahead.
- If needing to pump due to FT work (ie 8+ hrs away from baby), I guess
an electric pump would be best?
- What are your recommendations?
Is there a reason to rent...

6 month update (xposted) by

Hi folks,
I haven't been keeping up very well with mkp or mkb

but I wanted to pop in a post an update in case there
are folks around who remember me (I do see some familiar
names still).
DS2 is now 6 months old. He had his 6 month WBV...

Duration of feedings? by
concrtslt
My DS (2 1/2 months) usually nurses for 10-15 min on each side during one
feeding. Starting yesterday he started pulling off at 2-5 minutes. I
thought he was just messing around so I put him back on, and he would suck
for 10 sec and pull off again. Lather, rinse, repeat, he gets mad and
starts...
