Kids & sleep (mini-vent) by
Kari
Im just wondering what the "norm" is around here for bedtimes/waking times.
I have 3 kids ages 8, 5 and 8 mos. The baby goes to bed last - between 8:30
and 9:00. The middle child goes to bed first at 8:00, my oldest at 8:30.
I ask because even though this seems like enough sleep for them for...

Perverts try to indoctrinate kids by
thedarkman
The homosexual activist group Stonewall has launched a campaign to
indoctrinate British schoolkids under the guise of combatting
"homophobic bullying"; for the truth about this perversion check out:

b-day party ettiquette by
toypup
DS was invited to a party at one of those indoor bouce house venues. We'd
love to go, but I don't have daycare for DD at that time. I wonder if it
would be really poor ettiquette to ask if I could pay and take her along?
I normally wouldn't ask to take a child to a party s/he wasn't...

10 ways to be a better father by
Tara
I grew up without my father-the **** left before I was born. And I must say I
am 100% fine, completely well adjusted and have no problems with the situation.
All these "fatherless" kids will be fine, and if they're not the problem can't
simply be dumped at them having no father-that's a cop...

Disappointed over Baby's looks by
w2mamma
Hi,
I'm the mom of an 8 week old baby boy. I feel like a terrible mom and
a superficial person admitting this, but my son is far from being cute
or good looking. These thoughts depress me and make me feel guilty, but
I can't help feeling this way. Visitors just say 'Well, he doesn't look
like...

school supplies! by
Anne Rogers[_5_]
If you want to get stressed, I have a good recipe...
....try to get school supplies on the evening before school starts!
I'm really grumpy, not being local, we didn't even know DS would need
school supplies until we got a list 10 days ago, let alone that said
list would be so rigid. We were on...

;-)
Lately I've had 2 problems with out 2 year old DS.
Won't eat the dinner...

Cell phone for a second grader by
genkuro
Hi -
Any recommendations for a very simple, very kid-centric cell phone?
Nice to haves:
Simplified list dialing (Downkey Mom downkey Dad downkey Grandma)
Fewer and larger buttons
An _absence_ of junk features (video, ring tones, camera)
A vibrate ringer, one which has to be very explicitly set to...

first day of kindergarten and homework! by
toypup
DS finished the first day of kindergarten yesterday. For his homework, he
had to write his name, color a house, write his address, draw a picture of
someone he wants to talk on the phone with, write his phone number. It took
about half an hour and he was exhausted. Afterward, we were supposed...

Used infant/child carseats - what the heck to do with them? by
Banty
OK, so we're not supposed to *take* used car seats, so I think it's not
responsible to give away used car seats, but then, what to do with them? I'm
clearing stuff out of my house, but I'd hate to put three perfectly good hunks
of plastic and foam and fabric into a landfill.
What do we do with...

laundry and house cleaning poll - for those with little ones! by
dkhedmo
With a 5.5yo and a 1.5yo, I'm killing myself trying to keep up with the
mounds of laundry that accumulate and I'm wondering if I'm creating my
own circle of hell by using too many clothes over the course of the
day/week. So, a little poll on laundry and other housecleaning items...
How many sets...

snack problem at gym daycare by
Anne Rogers
so they have a rule that snacks must be nut free, fair enough, I can see
that when you've got children all sitting down together, even with the best
supervision etc. you can't always stop a child reaching over and sampling
someone elses.
But, pretty much everything you buy says something like...

and end the day with the afternoon staff, sometimes mixed with all the...

Those dreaded Early Release Days--VENT by

I'm just thinking out loud here about my least favorite part of
school, the early release day.
We only have a few, because parents complain so vociferiously about
them, but yet another Early Release Day is upon us tomorrow. And this
time I have absolutely no coverage because there just isn't any...
