17 month old doesn't eat table food by
[email protected]
Hi,
I had a question for everyone.
My 17 month old DD is developing quite well in most areas, but our last
WBV hs made me upset. Our pediatrician (who I think will no longer be
our Pediatrician after this visit!) proceeded with quite a tirade at
our last visit because DD is still eating jarred...

Harry Potter - and sharing books by
Cathy Weeks
So, for those of you who have more than one kid who is a fan of Harry
Potter, how do you handle taking turns with the book? Below is an
article from the NY times that talks one method (5 hour turns using a
stopwatch continuing around the clock). My brothers who were older
teens the last time an...

Unbouncing Tigger by
Chookie
When I pick DS1 up from day care, it's getting dark, so when we get home he
can't run around outside. However, the day care ends with winding-down
activities, so when we get home he needs to use his large muscles again. In
summer, we can go outside and kick a ball around, but these days,...

Shoes for 18 mo old by
-L.
Is there any real data about what kind or brand of shoes are best for a
competent but young walker? DS is 18 mos and has been walking for 8
mos. Most of the shoes I see have velcro which I am not too thrilled
about, and many seem stiff and or clunky (fashion over form). Is there
a brand or style...

fire alarm that disengages a lock by
Nikki
With all the technology available you'd think this would exist.
I want a fire alarm system that ties in with the locks of a house so that
when the alarm is set off, the door and window locks will automatically
disengage.
It seems so simple.
I've spent hours and made many phone calls looking for...

Babies and hot days by
Zen Cohen
When the temperature is in the high 90's and heat index is 100-degrees plus,
would you take your nine- or ten-month-old baby outside for walks and other
activities? If so, for what's the longest you'd do so for and what
precautions would you take (eg, clothing, hats, fluids)? If not, what's...

OT dusting by
Stephanie
I have a feature duster thanks to Flylady. But it does not work very well.
The cobs make lots of webs in the corners where the ceiling and walls meet.
In baby steps style, I know I am not going to dust if I have to haul a step
stool with me. And it's frustrating to do it and have it ... not be...

Moving around in cot by
[email protected]
Hello
We have just moved DS from is Moses basket to his cot. When we put him
down at night he is placed on his back, feet-to-foot, in a sleepsuit
with a cellular blanket. When he wakes 4-5 hours later for a feed he is
sometimes at a right angle so his feet hit the long side of the cot,
and one or...

Kids and Nutrition by
keira
I have two boys and a girl. They all like different foods. I insist on
making them the same thing, which is often a battle but getting easier
since I have not back downed once. I want to know if anyone has any kid-
friendly dinner and/or suggestions for finicky kids. I am concerned
about protein...

Sleeping and eating by
Donna
I have a couple of questions for you all. Both relate to my 11 month old
son.
1) How do I transition him to one nap a day? Right now he wakes at 5, naps
from 8:30-10:30, naps again from 1-3, and goes to bed at 7. At some point
I'd love for him to have the same nap time that his sister has,...

Daycare Blues Again by
[email protected]
Hello Everyone,
I would appreciate more advice on this subject. I wrote earlier about
my son not liking day care and you guys gave wonderful advice but now I
guess I'm asking for more advice.
My son still doesn't enjoy daycare and the daycare providers are
concerned that he isn't enjoying it. ...

Pushy parents 'harm child health' by
Akuvikate
Thought I'd throw this article up here for discussion.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/4368057.stm
We've had two kids admitted to the hospital in the last month who are
extreme examples of this phenomenon. Both times the parents were
pursuing surgery despite the fact that no one could find...

Grandparents Discussing Age Inappropriate Topics by
carolehaws
I need help on this one. I have a boyfriend I see about 1 time a month, my
child isn't around him often, and he's not someone I will marry. I am a
single working mom in college, and my daughter brought up something about
my boyfriend, and my parents proceeded to tell her that they didn't like
him...

Commuting and childcare by
[email protected]
I'm a little ahead of myself as I'm hoping by the time lil popeye has
come I will have found a job that's more local. But at the moment I
commute 1 hr each way (63 miles) by car. DH works within 15 mins of
home.
Now we're thinking of where would be the best locale for childcare - as
it will...

Disneyworld questions by

We have a family reunion type event near Pensacola in mid-August, and
since we will be travelling far to get there, we have decided to fly
into Orlando and spend 3-4 days doing the Disneyworld type things. Its
overwhelming looking at all the options for lodging, tickets, etc. I'm
hoping to get...

Cod liver oil for baby infant excema by
mypet
We have tried pretty much every thing to help this baby's excema.
She's had it on one spot or another since she was an infant, but we've
dealt with so many other more pressing issues in her overall health
that it's taken a back seat somewhat.
She's otherwise healthy as can be now and her mom asked...
