How did you decide? by
CY
OK, so I have been lurking at mkp for a few months and I think I am starting
to think about ttc #2. But I am SO scared about it for many reasons:
1) Unwanted weaning of DD - she is VERY attached to the boobies and I know
she'll be devastated at the lack of milk that will happen further into my...

Rapid weight loss is bad why? by
H Schinske
Cheryl S. writes:
I got food poisoning last Thursday. Have lost six pounds in 4-5 days.
ISTR there is something bad about losing weight too rapidly and nursing.
Ketones? What do I do? I was dehydrated for a day but he seems to have
made up for that.
There's nothing you can do really. A...

Low fat oatmeal bars? squares? REcipes requested by
Ducky Lawyer
Hi all,
I'm looking for a low fat recipe which will help me consume my daily
'dose' of oatmeal, in a portable form. I'm newly back to work full
time, and can't count on having hot regular oatmeal for breakfast -- but
want to keep my consumption of oatmeal up, to help with supply.
I thought maybe a...

daddy not bonding with baby by
ALanphear
My baby is 8 months old and has not bonded well with her daddy (my
husband). When she was 4 months old we went to Canada for 5 weeks.
My husband was supposed to join us for a week, but couldn't find his
birth certificate and therefore didn't get to go. My little girl,
Katherine, was doing fine...

Pumping vs. baby-sucking strength? by
Zucca4
Why is that when I put my baby boy to my breast he draws the milk out almost
instantly and when I use my Medela electric Pump in Style it sometimes takes a
good ten minutes to get the milk coming out? The sucking seems to be the same
intensity. Sometimes when my baby has had enough and there is...

Kamrons visit to the doc by
Andrea
My health visitor told me Kam needs to see a paediatric dietician, as he has
eczema no matter what solids he is on. He is clear of it if we stop solids
altogether.
So took him to the doc for a referral, and he asked what I was feeding him.
I told him boiled mushed fruits and veggies, one at a time...

Won't go to sleep or nurse w/o screaming by
[email protected]
Last two nights, DS has fought me with every bit of himself when I tried
to sit him down and nurse him before he goes to sleep. He screams and
pulls away while punching at my breast. He's never been a happy nurser,
but this is more extreme than usual. To get him to nurse and to sleep the
last two...

ideas for posters by
Rosie
The group I go to is trying to think of some ideas for bf posters for
National Breastfeeding week in May.
I'd like a poster of LARGE NAKED BREASTS with the strapline 'Not just for
selling beer' which I'm sure I nicked off someone in this group...
Anyone got any other ideas?

How long for alcohol to leave BM? by
*Hunee*
Hi everyone and a Happy New Year!
I celebrated last night with a few too many, and I was wondering how long
the alcohol will stay in my breastmilk.
I gave my DD a bottle last night but put her on the breast this morning.
DH wants me to pump and dump for 3 days but I think this is too...

LLL Question by
She's A Goddess
So, I've managed to nurse two children including through pregnancy and
tandem nursing and I've never quite made it to an LLL meeting. I see on
their website that they have an annual membership fee. At what point do
they request that you obtain memebership?
Thanks,

rooting=hungry? by
Jen
Hello everybody!
I am at my wits end once again. The past two nights I slept only about
1.5 hours.....
My son (20 days) has become a nightowl. He used to be real good. I
swaddled him, he'd wake up around 2.30 or 3.00 a.m., after having had
his last feeding between 11.00 p.m. and 0.30 a.m. (I nurse...

frustrated and getting resentful by
Liquid
Hello All, I have recently come to the end of my rope regarding a
situation my baby and I have developed. My baby is 5 months old, very
healthy, and I do as much as I can towards keeping our relationship
natural and personal. However, I've had enough of being a human
pacifier. I love my baby...

[ot] First unsupported steps! by
Belphoebe
Yesterday DS, 10.5 months, took his first two unsupported steps! :)
He was leaning against a piece of furniture, let go, and took a couple of
steps to get to the sofa, where he resumed holding on. (This was according
to DH's report--DS waited until I was in the shower to do this.)
Anyway, just...

Pregnant and cosleeping (xposted) by
ted
My 10.5 month old starts every night sleeping in the crib. She wakes
up after an hour or so and wails until I come and pick her up, place
her in the bed next to me and both of us doze off. Since I'm newly
pregnant, I'm feeling sleepy by 8pm. This is working out fine (for
now!).
DD is not a happy...

In my drs office ~ you would have been proud! by
Andrea
Hi all,
My PPD has been getting very bad for me - for all of us. My d/h has been
taking care of the kids, taking them to school dressing them. I haven't been
functioning.
Last time I went to my doc for anti-depressants I was told I could have them
as long as I was happy putting Kami at risk of...

Fist Sucking? by
Zucca4
The one thing that really undermines my nursing confidence is my 8 week old's
tendency to suck on his fist like a madman, even minutes after a nursing. I
was under the assumption that this was a feeding cue especially when he would
also open his little mouth and turn his head to the side, however...

yet another 4-month post by
zeldabee
We seem to be having a nursing crisis, or maybe it's really a sleep crisis,
I hardly know how to pin it down.
First: no sooner do I post that we're not having any problems nursing than
suddenly my nipples are *really* sore. It's actually the inner part of the
areola (about the inner half), around...
