What is a health visitor? by
Dagny
For those of you who have them, can you explain the role of the health
visitor? (How often does she come, etc.)
Unfortunately, it brings to my (*completely uninformed*) mind the concept of
a government employee who might suddenly bring child welfare down on an
unsuspecting parent who's doing...

Running out of Milk by
shelby
Hello
I am really upset :(. I had to return to work, and have been trying to pump
during my breaks which has been going okay but every day I am getting less
milk. I know it is a supply and demand thing, but my 7 month old ds also
just started sleeping mostly through the night and of course that...

Poop question (yet another one!) by
Cathy
DD (nearly 8 months) has been off-colour for about a week. Last Wednesday
she refused to nurse, and was off solids. Thursday she decided to nurse
again, but half-heartedly, and Friday she was back to full on nursing. A
week later, she is willing to take solids again, but only small amounts.
But,...

Transition from demand feeding? by
Nancy P
Just wondering, for those of you who are nursing toddlers, do you continue
to do so on request or did you set limits at some proscribed time?

Any bf'ing moms to toddlers in AZ? by
CY
I am looking for some bf'ing moms to toddlers in the East Valley (Phoenix
metro) area that we can get together with for play time. My DD is 18 months
and I am having a hard time finding toddlers her age for her to play with.
It shouldn't be that hard!!

Losing family doctor (was Blisters) by
H Schinske
When my kids had chicken pox, the doctor told us not to come in the
waiting
room -- he came out and saw us in the car. Fortunately it was decent
weather
out!
--Helen
Oh wow, that was very cool of him to do that.

sudden dislike for solids by
ted
My DD turns 6 months old tomorrow. I've been giving her solids for a
month, once a day. I gave her rice, bananas, oatmeal, peaches, pears,
mango and avacado so far. Suddenly the past two days she doesn't want
to eat anymore. When she sees her special silver cup, she jumps all
over the place wanting...

OT -- Doctors -- Little RANT!! by
Naomi Pardue
Soo.... I've been having these ear infections. On and off for about a year now.
They usually go away on their own, after a week or so of semi-deafness,
draining gunk (TMI...) and varying amounts of pain. This last one was dragging
on for a few weeks, so I went back to my doc, (I'd been in for a...

FAO: Chookie by
A&G&K
Chookie, you recently pointed out that formula advertising was not allowed
in Australia (or something to that effect). Does that only apply to infant
formula? I ask because I am starting to see adds for that karicare (sp?)
toddler formula popping up everywhere. It was bad enough to see them...

I have got some work lined up so need to sort out this expressing
thing properly. Our health visitor told me to express 6oz, give it to
my bloke and leave him with the baby for 3 hours while I go shopping.
Bliss! 3 hours of shopping - prescribed! wthout a pushchair! just a

Frustrated about nursing toddler (VENT) by
Nancy P
Am I the only one who sometimes wishes she wasn't still nursing?
We were away visiting friends this weekend and DD (18 months), who was
cutting a molar and feeling a little out of sorts nursed constantly. And I
mean constantly. So much that I'm quite sore now. For most of the weekend,
I was...

rhythm by
Anne Rogers
no, not a schedule, a rhythm, we seem to have drifted into a rough 2 and a
half hour cycle, feed for half an hour, he plays, I pump for 5 mins per
side, we play for about an hour, then he snoozes for about an hour. If I'm
feeling human in the morning we can start the cycle at 7am and the rest...

Blood donation by
Beth
Hi,
Does anyone know whether donating a pint of blood is all right? The
American Red Cross tells me that it is all right, from their point of
view--but will it seriously affect my supply? I am exclusively nursing a
9-month old . . . and miss being able to donate blood.
Thanks!
