Pediatrician recommends supplementing - should I? by
LubsyB
Hello all!
I'm sure this has been brought up many times before, but I was hoping
for some advice. First some background: my baby girl is 5 weeks old
and was 5lb 11oz at birth (not preemie -- 39 weeks gestation, just
small, but perfectly healthy). We had a HORRIBLE time breastfeeding
the first...

Setting one's self up for failure? by
cjra
I am curious to hear other's perspectives. On another parenting board,
where most of the members are young and first time moms, I read so
often that they will 'try breastfeeding and if it doesn't go well,
stop."
Now, normally I'm all for trying and being realistic. But at least for
me, such an...

please help me! by

Just had my daughter on the 11th, determined to breast feed. But even with
a good latch, my nipples are already cracked and bleeding. I caved and
pumped and bottle fed tonight. I absolutely cannot tolerate the pain. I'm
sitting here with an ice pack on each breast. I just don't know what to...

Barium Swallow Study/bottle by

Does anyone here know exactly what a barium swallow involves? He

How frustrating. How many ounces of the barium does he have to take? Can
he take...

what do stay at home moms do? by
oregonchick
Hey, I have to ask! This is new territory to me. I've always worked and
worked full time. It was a neccessity before as a single mom. Now I'm
married, and we have determined the family is better off if I don't work.
So now what do I do? The house is clean, the groceries stocked up, dinner
is...

I was talking with the health visitor about what Nathanael eats as he is

Baby feeding issues at daycare by
PK
E is now 6.5 mo old, and has been going to daycare (center based) for
the last three weeks. I send her EBM with her, but she has consistently
refused her bottles. Her care provider suggested that since she likes
solids, I should include more solids during her day, and so we are
currently doing...

OT bra fitting by
Anne Rogers
I'll be in Seattle next week and I'm considering getting fitted and
purchasing new bras, my current bras seem to fit ok, but are seriously worn
out. If I want to do this job in the US it has to be next week, I don't
think it will wait 'til October.
So, which stores have good fitters and a good...

Question about a broken tooth by
Jim's wife
One of my molars broke apart and I am having dentist take care of it
(crown/root canal) in a week or two. But right now it is chipped and the
big silver filling is exposed. Once in a while I can feel another piece of
tooth chipping away. Hole getting bigger. There is a funny taste in...

How did you start solids? by
[email protected]
The time is quickly coming to start introducing some 'real' food to DS. He
will be six months old on February 11th. He sits well. I've made him a
couple of Momsicles to distract him from my food at dinnertime and have
fed him slushy BM off of a spoon. He seems to have a chewing motion, but
some is...

Yet another "ready for solids?" by
Akuvikate
I know people post questions like this all the time, but...
The plan is to start Bug on solids at 6 months, which will happen in 3
and a half weeks. However I'm really beginning to wonder if it may
not make sense to start a bit sooner. Why I wonder:
1. I gave her a index card to gum and drool...

I really should not have read Babywise by

I shouldn't have bought/read What to Expect The First Year...
Same reasons. It's really down on attachment parenting and breastfeeding.
It actually says that you should start supplementing around 6 weeks so the
baby gets used to it, just in case....
the same friend had that on her shelf, I...

IF this is bad, ohw long should the lady stop BF the child a few days?
also amalgam installation in preparation for a crown, is this bad?
Once the crown covers the amalgam, is all well again?
Thanks

Some opinions on hospital policy, please... by

Hello, I've been primarily lurking here for the past few years and posted
a couple of times. I'm expecting my first any day now (already 3cm
dilated, but not due until the 7th). I went and did all the classes at my
hospital including breastfeeding, baby care, and prepared childbirth. This
hospital...
