Not offering solids yet?! by
Andrea
I took Kami in for a check at the clinic, and told them (health visitor and
nursery nurse), that I was still breastfeeding, they said I was a good
example, as many moms quit early or don't even bother to try breastfeeding.
Then even before I had Kami on the scales they asked the dreaded...

Going to use my BF experiance to help others by
Clare L
There was an advert in the local paper the other week to become a
"Breastfeeding Peer Supporter Volunteer" It's a scheme that the local HV's
are setting up for mums-to-be and new mums so they can speak to some one who
had been there, seen that etc.
I just filled in my application form!

We may be almost done...toddler weaning by
Irene
I'm not sure if this is it, or not, but ds (28 months) seems to be
heading towards self-weaning. Now that I'm almost 5 months pg,
there's hardly any milk left. About once or twice a day, he asks for
mommy milk, tries for a moment, and then declares "all gone."
Fortunately, I've been explaining...

Scientific evidence for breastfeeding by
Akuvikate
I started this in the the thread about the US PSA being changed
because of pressure from the formula companies, but since it's kind of
long and off-topic thought it made more sense to start a new thread.
Not that anyone asked :-), but IMO the only gold-standard scientific
evidence about the...

Another Hale's q., sorry by
DGoree
OK, I just got off the phone with the nurse in my gastro's office.
She told me very curtly that due to the sedation during the procedure (Demerol
& Versed) that I would be unable to nurse for 24 hours.
I told her equally curtly that nursing was a priority, that I wasn't nursing a
small infant,...

Well, we've made it to 6 months. (Either on Saturday or

what method you choose, we're definitively to 6 months...

Few qu's on wind, burping, feeding plan...please help! by

These will seem like daft questions but I would appreciate your input
on these few questions/ points that I have been thinking about. They
are regarding my 7 week baby boy who sleeps in a crib in our room.
1. If a baby farts during or just after feeding, does that count as
winding ie has the air...

seeds and food allergies by
Sara
Dear misc.kids.breastfeeding.solids,
The chart we've been following for introducing solids says "seeds"
should be avoided until 24 months. (Banana seeds? Avocado pits?) I
just realized the whole-grain bread Ollie's been eating -- one of the
few solids he likes -- has sunflower seeds. Whoops. But...

Snuggle Nest Reviews? by

I'm seriously considering getting a Snuggle Nest ( www.snugglenest.com ) for
Lily when she arrives. Curious if any of you have used this product and
what your thoughts were. We already have a bassinet and a Pack n' Play
(both of which Laszlo refused to sleep in - he slept in his swing for...

Hi guys,
I am surprised that nobody mentioned this article from the NYTimes:

it, though. Also, more about it...

OT bounty packs rant and vent by
teapot
In the UK we get free 'Bounty' packs, a couple when the baby is born,
one for weaning (getting onto solids not giving up BF) and one for
toddlers. I went to collect my weaning pack today. The only thing I
would consider feeding the Moo was a jar of Hipp organic fruit. And I
kept the weetabix...

Need lots of advice on nursing problems and eliminating supplementation by
jjmoreta
When my son Ian was born 3.5 weeks ago, he suffered from pathologic jaundice
due to blood group incompatibility. He wasn't doing very well and my milk
was coming in slowly, so my doctor decided to push fluids through him at the
time, using only a finger feeder so as to monitor his food intake...
