Zoloft and nursing by chattycat
I've been away from MKB from quite some time now since my kids are older. I have a question for my friend whose OB prescribed zoloft for ppd. She won't take it for several reasons. Her pediatrician told her it wasn't safe for nursing and her husband seems to have some bias against antidepressants....

ow, swollen nipple by Anne Rogers
my left nipple is unbelieveably swollen, if you imagine the bit of my other nipple that sticks out is fairly similar in size to my little finger, this is bigger than my thumb and jolly painful. Breastfeeding was painful during and afterwards, it subsided a bit, but as it was so obviously swollen...

worried about weight gain and how much she is eating... by oregonchick
I know it's really hard to tell how much a baby gets when you are breastfeeding directly. Maybe if that is what I was doing, I wouldn't worry so much. Since I am pumping and bottle feeding, I am aware of how many ounces Emily eats and how little it has changed since she was born. I pump 40-48...

infant vitamin supplements by V.
At our 2 month checkup, the pediatrician recommended that we start giving her a multivitamin. Actually, she recommended vitamin D supplementation b/c we live in Maine, don't go outdoors right now unless completely bundled, and Madi is quite fair skinned. She also said that she recommends giving...

OT Baby backpack by [email protected]
I'm back to work in a few months and have been thinking about logistics for getting to and from the nursery and work. At the moment it looks like a backpack will be a good idea but I have no idea what type. Can any recommend a good one? I didn't fare well with the Bjorn carrier so would like to get...

Cheaper source for disposable changing pads by Lady Penelope Creighton-Ward
I was at the dentist's yesterday for a cleaning and made a great discovery which I want to share with those of you who use disposable protective liners on the baby's changing pad: the vinyl-backed 3-ply paper bibs used by my dentist are IDENTICAL to the disposable changing pads by Pee...

Having a clearout and found an opened pack of medela bm bags - 16 out of 20 still left unused along with tie-twists. I use the Avent storage tubs so don't need them. They are free to anyone who wants them. Cheers Jeni

Schedule vs demand by Brookben
How do you put a baby on a schedule when bfing? My baby is 2 months old and is totally not on a schedule. I have been keeping a log of her habits and am surprised that she nurses 12+ times a day - and many are very short feedings. She takes a ton of short naps and only a couple of 2 hour naps. ...

Triggering colostrums and milk flow by username
I'm embarrassed to ask this, and I'm glad that no one can see me blushing, but will my husband's propensity to suckle my breasts stimulate early milk and offset Mother Nature's time clock? I'm in my eighth month and I'm worried that his sucking (Coitus is against doctor's orders) is...

OT taking a drug similar to benadryl by Anne Rogers
In the UK, the over the counter drug that is similar to benadryl (and may be the same active ingredient) is Nytol, which is diphenhydrine hydrochloride. I asked my GP today about taking it as I have difficulty getting off to sleep as I am in pain, he thought that was sensible and I asked him...

what do stay at home moms do? by oregonchick
Hey, I have to ask! This is new territory to me. I've always worked and worked full time. It was a neccessity before as a single mom. Now I'm married, and we have determined the family is better off if I don't work. So now what do I do? The house is clean, the groceries stocked up, dinner is...

the saga goes on by Anne Rogers
My physiotherapist has discharged me, not because I am better or on the mend, but because I am too bad for him to do anything. I'm frustrated by this as basically I've only had one dip, as in my muscle function had always improved even if only slightly since the previous appointment, until...
