bleeding by
Anne Rogers
I've just been to pump. My nipple started bleeding at a very fast rate,
enough to over a minute before I noticed and stopped the bottle I was
pumping onto which already had nearly 3oz of milk in it was up to over 3oz
and was very pink with blood all over the flange etc. TMI I think, but I
need to...

Intro and solids question by
Vicky Larmour
Hi all,
I've posted in various places before so I guess a few of you know me
already but for those that don't, hello :-) We're in Cambridge, UK
and my DS Matthew is a bit over 7 months old now (how time flies).
He's been exclusively bf-ed until he started on solids just before
six months of...

hot all the time! by
Liquid
I thought I was hot before I had this baby, but for the last couple of
months it is all I can do to keep from sweating up a storm. Is this a
normal part of postnatal hormones or what? I am breastfeeding my 4.5
month old, he feeds every 1-3 hours. I find I can walk around outside
with only a...

Sleep routines and nursing baby to sleep by
Sarah Lee
My daughter is just over 5 months and for her night sleeps my husband and I
have been bathing her and then nursing her to sleep (she's exclusively
breastfed and won't take the bottle). Up
until a few weeks ago she was waking once for a nightfeed and sleeping 10 to
11 hours all up (I was quite...

CBPTTD (cute but painful things they do) by
Chotii
So Gwendobaby woke up on her tummy this morning, and apparently looked over
to find mommy sleeping on her side nearby. OH look. Mommy's nipples are just
sticking out there. Grab, grab, grab yank, grab scratch, grab pull...repeat
until mommy wakes up and rolls to her other side. Then cry, toys all...

Flu Questions by
Leslie
All four of my children have the flu. I thought I was getting it too, because
I was coughing, aching, had a runny nose, and had a fever of 100, but the next
day I had no fever, just a cough and runny nose. IS it possible I could have
such a short bout of flu, or do I have something else?
If a bf...

We get tons of spam, and I usually don't pay any attention to it. This ad
was the same, but I had to go back to my deleted box to look at it.

Itchy itchy itchy by
Alison
The skin on my breasts is SOOOOO itchy. Not on my nipples though (yet).
There's a slight raised rash under the skin. It wakes me up at night and I
could almost scratch my skin off, maybe cos I'm hotter then. Any ideas?

flu shot question by
Mary
I know it's a little late to be thinking of a flu shot, but it's sort of
my last chance to get one before starting this next cycle (since you're
not supposed to while in the first trimester). I don't know whether to
get one or not.
I know flu is quite dangerous for pregnant women, and that the...

Office As A Lactation Location
PUBLIC relations exec Sonya Rendigs does it in the ladies' room.
Scientist Katie Brennan found an empty office and did it there.
And when writer Diane Brady needed to pump breast milk for her infant son
and daughter, she did it in her glass-walled office at Business...

.... visited me today, for the first time since Caterpillar
was born. That explains the sore nipples, constant switch
nursing, and the fact that I went 2 5-hour stretches today
without nursing or pumping or leaking or painful engorgement.
I suspect it was an ovulatory cycle with an 8-day...

night time engorgement by
Rachel
DD, 8 weeks tomorrow, is finally sleeping for long chunks of time at
night (4 hours, once 5!). WHen she does wake to feed they are quick 5
minute feeds and she goes back to sleep. However, I am waking up
really engorged, like there are rocks in there, even when she's not
waking. Sometimes between...

some people are so STOOOOOOOOPID I wonder how they can LIVE by
Stephanie Stowe
I work in cubicle land. I just went back yesterday. My experience with my
son was that if I went upstairs to the designated pump room every time I had
to pump, I never got anything done. You have to march upstairs, plug the
whole works in, pump for the designated amount of time while not at...

long-term milk storage by
Mary
Wow, you guys make soap with your milk. That is so neat. :)
A friend had this idea, which I think is a good one -- freezing some
milk for a possible emergency situation with a new baby (rather than
having to use formula, if some kind of problem arose and I wasn't able
to nurse my newborn). But...

Maternity/breastfeeding shirt by

Here's a shirt that I thought y'all would get a kick out of. I saw it when
doing some online shopping for maternity clothes. The description of the
item says that the shirt comes longer when you order it (it was short for
the fashion show). I think I'm going to order it to wear to...

6 months (ish) roll call by

Well how is everyone?
Moo gets my meticuolsly prepared solids every day but isnt interested
in eating, he just likes to play. He has got this great angled spoon
that he plays with and if there happens to be food on the end of it it
goes in but gets spat out in disgust. I have tried (in order)...

Sorry if repost... NYC Sling stuff by
Jenrose
Well, I posted this to MKP and it showed, but the post a minute later,
here, didn't. Go figure.
I'll be in NYC at Upper Breast Side on Dec 22 (Monday) at 11 am. I'll be at
Mama Nurture at 3:30. I'll be helping people with slings and baby carriers,
whatever they need help with. No RSVP needed,...
