Will Hou
Hi,
I will be traveling from Florida to China next month with my one-year-old
son alone (mother can't go). Any tips/suggestions/warnings you guys could
provide? Only thing I could think of is to fly as few hours as possible. And
of course, pack enough diapers, formula... (maybe he doesn't need...

Protect + respect children; "The bottom line is ...." by
Thomas McMillan
Almost a month after Ortiz was arrested, Homeland Security
Secretary Tom Ridge said: "The bottom line is, as a country
we have to come to grips with the presence of 8 to 12 million
illegals, afford them some kind of legal status some way, but
also as a country decide what our immigration policy is...

Children's Book-of-the-Month Club (U.S.A.) by
Sara
Any reviews on the Children's Book-of-the-Month Club? I just got some
junk mail from them, and it's tempting. I know book club books are
usually of low quality, but I wouldn't expect kid's books to be of
heirloom quality anyway.

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a nice Christmas and New Years!
Anyone got some great tips for travelling with a toddler (2 and a bit) in
the car? We are planning some major stops (Wangaratta, Holbrook then
Tumbarumba) on day 1. Then a few days later we drive to Canberra. After a
couple of days...

Need suggestions: toys to bring on airplane for a 1-year-old by
dodo
Hi,
We will be traveling with a one-year-old toddler cross Pacific (13+ hours)
and need some suggestions as to what toys might be good. I guess like all
babies, he prefers shiny, complicated things that can be open/close, torn,
making sound, lights etc. I plan to be bring a few of them he's never...

A friend called Friday night to warn me that her son (who had been
vaccinated for the flu) had been playing with a child the day before who had
been diagnosed with the flu that morning. (The other child had no flu
symptoms the day of their playdate). They were supposed to come over
Saturday...

Double Stroller for Tall Kid by
GoofeeGyrl
I need some help with Double Strollers.
We have two right now. First is the stadium seating Sit 'N Stand, which works
great for trips to the mall and the zoo, etc. This was a pretty big investment
but we feel that we will get several years use out of the stroller. Second is
an Avalon (from Baby...

Website about Autism by
GoofeeGyrl
DH has a job interview this week at a clinic that helps children and families
dealing with Autism. Even though he will be in a technical position, not
working with the kids or families, we think it would be good for him to have a
very basic knowledge about it for his interview. Any good websites...

Red Bull and bfding by

SOrt of a silly question, but I'm working nights and I don't drink coffee. I'm
finding it extremely difficult to get through the night, and coke/mountain dew
do nothing for me in the lines of keeping me awake. My husband suggested Red
Bull. I don't know where to find it around here so don't have...

Birthday party food etiquette by
Cheryl S.
(also posted to m.k.f-l)
Tomorrow Julie's going to a birthday party and the choice of entree was
peanut butter and jelly, or hot dog. She doesn't eat either one. Would
it be rude of me to bring something she will eat so she doesn't go
hungry? The party is right during dinner time. Should I...

Update on potty training at night by

Just wanted to thank you all for your thoughts a few weeks ago. With Jessica
having accidents at night about 50% of the time, I decided to put her back in
pull ups for a little while. I told her that she could wear pull ups (as
opposed to diapers-she likes pull ups, but they give her a rash when...

We are. DS is 15 months old and still on soy.
He seems to be able to eat Mac & cheese and a little yogurt
without any undo effect, except the yogurt can make him gassy.
We keep the yogurt in his diet because he get yeast infections at

Do they use organic milk making formulas? by
dodo
Hi,
Anybody happens to know if those regular formulas out there for infants and
toddlers (Similac, Efimil, ...) are made of organic cow milk or not? In
other words, do those milk-based formulas use regular milk that coming from
cows eating antibiotics and BGH or not?
I would think at least those...

I'm writing from Italy so sorry for my english

Alternatives to misc.kids by

Are there any alternatives to misc.kids.*?
There has to be a good Web-based forum somewhere where
discussions remain on topic, without the trolls, x-posts,
and flame wars. The Usenet groups have been pretty
good but the signal/noise ratio seems to be gradually
deteriorating. It's only a matter...
