vent: Friend not going to "bother" by
Herself
My friend, let's call her Linda, is 7 months preggers. She didn't
really bf her first (now 3), and has just told me that she's not going
to "bother" cause it's too much trouble and she can just chuck the
bottles in the dishwasher anyway. And her hubby can therefore feed
baby. She's not going to...

Solids before milk at 7 months? by

All the resources I
find seem to assume that the baby was started on solids at 4 months. So
when things say that e.g. fork mashed stuff should be introduced at 6
months, it assumes that the baby has already had 2 months of puree.

questions about the mirena by

So, since I am close to getting an IUD, I'd like a little assurance that it
really is the way to go. I've heard alot of people say they loved it, but I
feel a little uneasy about having semi-permanent hardware hanging out in my
insides... The things I am most worried about are pain/discomfort,...

Thermacare packs for a plugged duct by
Dagny
My left side has been hurting for the last three days -- but I didn't really
investigate until today since I'm getting kicked, squeezed and bitten
regularly by DD. Nope, it's a lump. I bought the Thermacare heat packs at
the drug store -- the air-activated ones advertised for menstrual cramps...

OT how long did you bleed PP by
Lori
Hi ladies
How long did you all bleed after delivery. My baby will be 3 weeks tomorrow
and im still bleeding. Not very bad, but bad enough to wear a pad.
I was reading in one of my books and it said the max you should have
bleeding is 2 weeks and if it goes longer it could be because of pieces...

I refuse to believe this is colic. I think Alena's hit a growth spurt. My
milk is flowing like a fast river right now and this monkey is so fussy I
barely get any sleep.
however everyone around me is saying that she's got colic and that I should
stop feeding her every time she cries. well,...

supplementing pm feed with EBM by

Madi (5.5wks) nurses almost constantly all evening, which I understand is
normal. However, she seems to get little milk from this (no audible
swallowing sounds, no "milk stupor"). I figure this is b/c of both her
constant nursing and evening slowdown of production. Due to soreness, etc

can crying infant cause choking? by

Last night our 4 1/2 month baby cried so hard in the car that he
started choking. I knew something was wrong while I was driving
because he just suddenly stopped crying. Thank goodness his grandma
was sitting in the back seat with him. She said something was wrong
and I needed to pull over. He...

Cdn source for domperidone by

Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a Canadian source of
domperidone...I'm thinking my doctor may recommend a script to have in
hand in case I do have to go back to work outside the home quickly, and
thought maybe someone here might have done some comparison shopping...

Ot weird thing on arm - excema? by

The Moo has a cirular thing on his arm, about the size of a 5p bit,
(dunno what that is in American, sorry) It is in exactly the same
place as a scabies track he had but that was treated back in November.
The outside of the circle is a bit scabby and the inside was bumpy.
The inside is now smooth...

Prozac ?s by

My sister is pretty sure that she has PMDD (premenstrual dystrophic disorder,
IIRC). The "new" drug for this is Sarafem, which is nothing more than Prozac
under another name.
I checked around a bit and I see that Prozac is not generally recommended for
nursing mothers. But she has tried Paxil...

How long can bf'ing go on with a bad latch? by

A little background...our DD is 6 weeks, 4 days old today...I have been
bf'ing her exclusively since she was born. I do pump every 2-3 days for
an emergency freezer stash and she takes 2-3 bottles a week with no
problem from dh or one of the grandmas. She was born at 7lbs 11oz and

steroids safe to treat asthma in children? by
determined
So the doctor has prescribed a steroid inhaler for Emily. I am reading
stuff online that scares me, like it interferes with the pituitary gland and
can inhibit growth in children! Emily is small enough, we don't need to do
anything to stunt her...
Can anyone shed some light on this?
