kids drink out of the garden hose. It turns out that our local tv
station recently addressed this issue. The station's consumer
investigator's main concern was the possibility of high lead content in
sitting water. Of course,...

newly pierced ears by

I posted a little over a week ago about my 3 year old daughter deciding
to stop sucking her thumb. She is doing so well. Although she is still
wearing the tape most of the time, she is bringing her hands to her face
less and less. We are still having problems with going to sleep on
various days....

So.... anyone else out there have a kid obsessed with the "American Juniors"
show? Henry can't get enough of it -- we just got back from buying the single
CD (they were still unpacking the boxes at the store -- that is how

Just wondering who else out there is experiencing...

Hany Hosny
Introducing your dog to your newborn.
If your dog has a pulse, then (s)he has a very wide spectrum of emotions.
Thus, it stands to reason that if your dog has emotions, there are plenty of
reasons to be nervous about an introduction and initial weeks of interaction
between your newborn and your...

Kids drinking out of a garden hose by
Beeswing
We just had a girl come over for a play date with our daughter. She'd never
been here before, so I tried to be extra conscientious about things like not
letting her go out of our yard unwatched, me dropping in to check in with them
frequently, those sorts of things (both kids are 8, btw). My...

Child double speaking / repeating himself by
Scott Enlow
I remember as a small child my mother and father commenting to me that
I was "double talking". By that I mean unconciously repeating phrases
or spoken sentences. For example, I would say "I rode my bike like a
rocket...I rode my bike like a rocket" Repeating the sentence without
meaning to or even...

Here's a new one on me... my nearly 11-yo son has had some minor acne problems
for about 6 months. He entered puberty early, about a year ago. He controls
the acne well with a few over-the-counter products, including Oxy pads and
Stridex face wash.
Since he began using the products, he's ruined...
