Fist Sucking? by
Zucca4
The one thing that really undermines my nursing confidence is my 8 week old's
tendency to suck on his fist like a madman, even minutes after a nursing. I
was under the assumption that this was a feeding cue especially when he would
also open his little mouth and turn his head to the side, however...

Pumping vs. baby-sucking strength? by
Zucca4
Why is that when I put my baby boy to my breast he draws the milk out almost
instantly and when I use my Medela electric Pump in Style it sometimes takes a
good ten minutes to get the milk coming out? The sucking seems to be the same
intensity. Sometimes when my baby has had enough and there is...

Thank You by
Zucca4
Michael Jude will be 8 weeks old on Monday and my husband today just commented
on how far we've come with nursing. He's so happy I stuck it out and so am I.
I'll tell you what I told you,"If it weren't for a bunch of total strangers on
a newsgroup who took the time to respond to my queries, share...

Fontanel as Hydration Indicator? by
Zucca4
I've read or heard in various places that a sunken fontanel signifies
de-hydration. Of course my husband and I lightly touch our darling son's
fonatnel throughout the day and of course it feels slightly recessed at times
and level with the rest of the skull plates at others.
Over the last four...

Finally A Breakthrough....I think :) by
Zucca4
Last night at 2:30 am, I was ready to throw the towel in. Too many days and
weeks of sleep deprivation were taking there toll. Our little vampire baby was
resisting night sleep as usual and nothing could get him relaxed- not cuddling
on mommy or daddy's chest (he normally loves this and would sleep...

ot/infant receded hairline by
Zucca4
my little angel has a very odd hairline- receded with large sideburns almost.
anyway, the initial hair seems to be falling out now at five weeks and a new
layer of peach fuzz is growing....will his entire hairline change do you think?
His toddler pals are referring to him as "grandpa" :)

ot/ getting baby back to sleep by
Zucca4
Any suggestions on getting baby back to sleep in the most efficient way at
night. Our son is 5 weeks old and still has his days and nights confused. We
call him our little vampire :) as he slumbers for most of the day and is bright
eyed and bushy tailed at night.
After nursing and changing his...

ot- baby acne vs. contact dermatitis? by
Zucca4
Our little mush has spots all over his face which the doctor says is baby acne.
We've been encouraged to let it run its course and simply wash with warm water
a few times daily- no soaps, creams, etc... However I have been noticing that
the condition is red and exacerbated when our baby is laying...

How long to pump 3 oz? by
Zucca4
Michael Jude will be 4 months old on Monday. He's nursing 70% of the time, 30%
Similac thanks to his intensive care stay where he was indoctrinated to
formula. Also he never seems satisfied at the breast and minutes after 30 mins.
of nursing will carry on and then suck formula down like there is no...

FAQ for new member? by
Zucca4
Just joined this group as my baby is expected in about two weeks, Godwilling :)
I've read a bunch of books, taken a class, and even gotten the name of a good
lactation consultant should any problems arise. I don't want to end up giving
up like so many of my relatives.
Is there an initial FAQ for...

zolw
Hi;

breastfeeding question by
zolw
Hi;
I am a first timer. I am due July 31st. I plan to breast feed, but my
nipples are so sore that I wonder how painful is it going to be for a
baby to suckle on them? They hurt when I touch them (& I am real gentle).
Is breastfeeding painful? How long before I would get used to it? & of
course...

solids?? by
zeldabee
This may seem like a weird question. Sprogly will be 5 months old in 5 days.
I've not been in *any* hurry to start solids--there's a lot of allergy in my
family, his father is allergic to peanuts--and I hadn't really noticed
anything I could take as a sign that he was ready. He watches when I...

I was afraid it would come to this... by
zeldabee
Yesterday, I got a call from daycare at about 4:00 saying that they'd run
out of milk for (4-month-old) Sprogly. I'd sent 20oz, which was more than he
was eating each day last week. He's gone from 12-14oz/day pretty
consistently to about 16-18oz/day last week, and now this. I generally can
pump...

Sprogly's 4 month WBV by
zeldabee
He's 26.5 inches long, 15.5 lbs. The weight was a surprise, because I was
sure he'd be at least 16 lbs. But his weight gain has slowed down--65%ile
while it was 75%ile at 11 weeks; he's still in the 95%ile for length. Head
circumference is still almost exactly average.
I went in half expecting the...

Tell me this isn't just gas... by
zeldabee
Bubeleh will be 4 weeks old tomorrow. I've seen him smile many times, but
as part of a repertoire of expressions that pass over his face, and it
seemed almost random, so I figured they weren't "real."
This morning was different, though...We'd had a good night--he wasn't
fussy, didn't stay awake...

Not really a birth story, but... by
zeldabee
I've worked on Anton Edward's birth story off and on since we came home
from the hospital, but honestly, it's a bit depressing (though all is well
now), and I've abandoned it for now...so, here's the short version.
He was born Monday, September 8, at 8:09am, weighing 7lbs, 4oz, 21...
