Intro & questions by Lisa Besko
My DS is 21months old and still bf. I'm pg with child #2, due the end of Dec. I work 50% time. My son goes to a Daycare Center while I'm at work. We co-sleep. My son usually only nurses before bed and in the AM. We practice AP in our home 'cause it feels right. My DS still does not sleep...

My DH's Pumping Question by JoAnna
If EBM can be frozen for long periods of time when you do use it won't it be totally different than the milk you are producing at the time you use it? Doesn't breastmilk change in composition to what the growing baby needs? Isn't that going to be very different for a 2 month old than for a 5...

Tongue sucking by Patty
My baby is 4 days old. He sucks on his tongue and can't seem to position it correctly when he nurses. When I was at the hospital, the lactation nurse came and worked with us for an hour or more trying to help him get his tounge down. While at the hospital, I finally gave in and gave him a bottle....

solids before 6 months or food aversion by Cantrall family
Hi all, I've heard this discussed before, so I'm pretty much dismissing this as "bunk" but.... Went to the pediatrician last week, the baby at 5 months is about 17 1/2 lbs....We discussed with the pediatrician when we were planning on starting solids. I told her we were in no hurry. She "seemed"...

Separation Anxiety by Debby B
My 8 month old recently discovered Separation Anxiety and now seems to be afraid to go to sleep. She usually nurses to sleep and used to go down well, and used to sleep about 6 hours , then nurse again, and then sleep for another 4 or so. These days I'm lucky if she'll sleep 2 hours before she...

Toronto Area moms. (X-posted) by Lina
Is anyone around the Newmarket area interested in a get-together? I'm feeling really isolated lately, and all of my friends before the baby are moving away. (Peterborough to be precise... all of them...the buggars.) I'm trying to find some people to hang around with before I go batty. If anyone's...

How much milk is my older baby getting? by Cathy Weeks
Hi all, My 20 month old is still going strong with nursing. But the older she gets, the less milk I can get if I pump. I understand that this is normal, that my body is just perfectly tuned to her needs at this point. Now, at this point, I only pump if I'm going to be gone from her all day,...

Lasik eye surgery and breastfeeding by Cantrall family
Hi all, One more question I've been wondering about. My husband got Lasik eye surgery at the beginning of this year. He loves the results. Now that all of our "flex money" is out the window for this year (that surgery, and the new baby) I'll have to wait for the surgery till next year sometime....

Where to buy Hales? by Phoebe & Allyson
I'm scheduled to meet with the surgeon on September 4th to have my gallbladder out, having finally had an attack bad enough (and during office hours) that I was willing to call for the appointment. I'd like to get a copy of Hale's to take with me, in case either of us have any questions. ...

Poop question by Lina
Alena's been having funny poops lately... They're still yellow, but have a greenish tinge to them. That's not the question... What does it mean when a baby's poop is super sticky and gooey instead of liquid? She'll be 8 weeks tomorrow, and therefore has been nursing for 6 weeks since then. She just...

conversation with ped by Sara-anne
I brought DD (11+ months) to the doctor this morning because she has this awful cough that she got after a cold and has had it for at least 10 days. She was also pulling at her ears and sleeping badly the last week, so I wanted to have her looked at. We saw her regular pediatrician's associate...
