Another reason to avoid C-sections if not vital... by
L.A.
Hi all...
I was listening to a radio documentary today that was all about women
in Surrey B.C., who had c-sections at the general hospital there.
Thirteen of them in the space of a few months got terrible staph
infections that led to various consequences from long-term antibiotic
use to sterility....

March 05 Where's Everyone At (Pregnancy Version) by
SuperEeyore
How far along are you, and how does that make you feel?
Are you feeling and or seeing movement? Does that freak you out or are you
the type that pokes the belly to get a reaction?
Are you swelling? Are your feet changing sizes? Do you rings still fit? Or
if you are earlier along, are you bloated?...

question/poll: length of labor by
emilymr
Hi, everyone! First, the question: how do you determine the length of your
labor? Is there a standard, or is it however you decide you want to
count? Do you start 'timing' from when the first contraction hits, or from
water breaking, or from active labor?
And then the poll: how long was your...

28 weeks :-) by
Anne Rogers
this trying to see things four weeks at a time seems to be really working,
the last 4 weeks of this pregnancy have been the best four weeks, I think
the only 4 weeks when I haven't chucked up, but more than that, I am feeling
good, both physically and emotionally!
The one thing I would change...

anyone doing an online pregnancy diary? by
teapot
Hi, it feels a bit weird being on here again as I graduated to
misc.kids.breastfeeding 21 months ago!
I diaried my pregnancy and have it online and I'd love to link to other
diaries if any of you have them online and don't mind them being
associated with breastfeeding advocacy.
The link...

pulling-up/standing support for 7-month-old by
[email protected]
DS2 is 7 months today. His new activity of choice is standing supported
-- he's at the stage where he really needs a parent *right* there
behind him, but can actually spend some time balancing against the
couch, etc. He loves it! I was wondering if anyone could think of any
baby occupation gadgets...

vent: sad about retiring obstetrician by
Irrational Number
I just had a huge bawlfest in the car leaving
the ob/gyn's office. Called my husband and
my friend, so I do feel better. But, I'm still
upset.
My obstetrician was The Wizard to us. I
LOVED him and his two office ladies. He
was the one who saw us through my difficult
pregnancy last time and...

When I go into labour by
Shelley
I am currently 38 weeks, 5 days and could go into labour at any time,
although I still don't have any impending labour symptoms and
personally believe it'll be into April before I have this baby.
I always post while at work because I don't have internet at home (I
know, I live in the dark ages). ...

Dangit, I'm so *cold* by
Chotii
I don't remember being too *cold* before, in my pregnancies. Too hot, yes.
Running around in a tank top in February, yes. But not so cold that I'm
wearing a sweatshirt *over* a fleece shirt. My house is at 67F - the kids
run around half nekkid all the time. Why am I absolutely freezing?
Does...

Nanny expectations by
[email protected]
I am a mom of a 4 month-old. We hired a nanny so I can work part-time
from home. She is very well paid, and her only duty is the child.
Generally, she is good with the baby; however, there have been a few
things concerning me. She doesn't seem to enjoy the child much. In
fact, she may complain...

medical problems & Amnio's by
Tiggy
Can midwives ''force'' you to have an amnio? I told my midwife that
my 16 month old son has Osteogenesis Impefecta (O.I.)which is brittle
bone disease, and also a rare benign brain tumor called a
hypothalamic hamartoma. The O.I is a genetic disease, however, the
child can be tested at birth...

Help request: eating during labor by
Elizabeth H Bonesteel
I'm about to get into it on another message board with an OB, and I figure
I need to get my facts straight.
She says she only allows her patients clear liquids during labor, because
she has found that women who "insist" on eating during labor tend to vomit
more (although she acknowledges that...
