OT, but you gotta love these (puppy) toys... by Chotii
http://www.petstages.com/default2.asp (click on 'developmental toys for dogs') No, no, I'm serious. Somebody ought to make toys like these for kids. I bought the 'interacting' ring with tags on it. Some of the tags crinkle. The tags are mouthable and grabbable, and the ring is just the right...

9 month wbv by Phoebe & Allyson
Our pediatrician's office called yesterday, to remind us of an appointment we weren't aware we'd made - apparently the ditzy receptionist had her March calendar open when we were making an April appointment. (We'd shifted scheduling so Caterpillar could get her osteopathic manipulation at the...

One year today! by Alpha
We've been breastfeeding for one year today! Yay! Today I was thinking about how in the hospital, there was a short period where it looked for all the world like Quinn was going the way his brother went -- growing disinterest in the breast before the milk came in. (In Eamon's case, it led to...

solids before 6 months or food aversion by Cantrall family
Hi all, I've heard this discussed before, so I'm pretty much dismissing this as "bunk" but.... Went to the pediatrician last week, the baby at 5 months is about 17 1/2 lbs....We discussed with the pediatrician when we were planning on starting solids. I told her we were in no hurry. She "seemed"...

2 month well visit by Nikki
Well we had our two month visit. The boys are doing great! Brock is 14lbs 2oz and 24 inches while Ben is 11lbs 9oz and 23.5 inches. They each had three shots. Brock was ticked off royally about the whole thing. Ben took it a little better. He was really sleepy so went back to sleep...

OT Sleep help by Beth Kevles
Hi - Have you taken her in to her doctor to see if there's any physical discomfort that's keeping her awake? Have you tried offering her a pacifier or a bottle (of EBM or water) at night to help her go back to sleep? (The advantage of a bottle is that you can gradually put less and less into it...

San Antonio OB/midwives/pediatricians by Kmom
It looks like we may be moving to San Antonio in the next few months. I am due 5/22. This is my 7th child and my 6th planned VBAC. I'll need to find a HCP pretty quickly once I get down there. Homebirth is out as we will probably be living a good 30-40 minutes north of SA and that is too far for my...

Sling/carrier rec? by Deirdre
I'm sure this has been covered here before, so I hope you'll forgive the redundancy -- My little bean is 10 weeks old and about 11 pounds or so. I've tried a couple of different carriers (Snugli, EuroRider) and a "SlingRider" sling, and loathe all of them. The carriers feel like they're made by...

Is rice milk suitable for baby starting solids? by Liz
To me, it tastes much closer to breast milk than cows milk. The only concern I would have is it has salt listed as an ingredient. DD will be six months old in a week, and I think I'll try her on solids then -- she seems keen. Thanks, Liz

fluid intake while breastfeeding - how much? by oregonchick
I am pumping tons of extra breastmilk for freezer, and Emily easily consumes 24 oz in addition. I am drinking 2-32oz bottles of water per day, but also drink upwards of 32 oz of nonfat milk, a diet coke, a couple sugar free cocoas, etc. Is this adequate?

What to mix with formula besides water to make taste better? by [email protected]
My daughter is about 7months old, and my wife's milk supply is starting to diminish. We started mixing cereal with her milk to bulk it up about a month or so ago, and she took to that readily. We have been trying to find something to help supplement her increasing diet, especially when she is...

bedtime by elizabeth emerald
DS is 16 months. i'm wondering what other people who breastfeed to sleep and do *not* use cry it out do when their toddler decides bedtime is not something they are interested in. usually DS is pretty good at bedtime - straight to sleep on the booby, but sometimes he's not quite so good...
