Advice for a week away from baby by stasya
I am thinking about taking a short intense cooking class that would be 5 days long, 14 hours a day, at the end of July. My baby will be 7 months old, so I presume from my previous babies that she'll be on some solid food but still mostly nursing. At the moment, I am a sahm, and the baby doesn't...

more on dummy/pacifier usage (x-posted) by Leanne
some stuff I read out of another article today, which I thought was pretty interesting - Dummy Myths and Facts. FACT 1: Studies of newborns have shown no evidence of so-called nipple confusion. Babies do seem to be able to suck for comfort on a dummy yet know how to feed from the breast without...

Is she getting enough protein? by cjra
We're not really vegetarians, but DH is strongly opposed to giving DD meat now. I'm trying to figure out what foods to give her to include protein. She's 10.5 months, on 3 solids meals per day (most days), but she doesn't eat a ton. Our menu looks like this: B'fast - museli OR semolina OR mixed...

Schedule vs demand by Brookben
How do you put a baby on a schedule when bfing? My baby is 2 months old and is totally not on a schedule. I have been keeping a log of her habits and am surprised that she nurses 12+ times a day - and many are very short feedings. She takes a ton of short naps and only a couple of 2 hour naps. ...

Am I doing the right thing (plugged duct)? by DeliciousTruffles
Idiot me wore a too-tight bra for a full day and now my breasts are sore. I am suspecting a partially plugged ducts. I have been pumping every time I feel a bit full and also if Isabella hasn't nursed long enough to take away that soreness. But now my supply is increasing because of the added...

Cosleeping Question by New York Jen
Hi all, We're getting used to living with Lily Bean...seems she sleeps best when she's next to me in bed. I never felt comfortable enough to sleep with Laszlo in the bed with us (until he was much older) and I'm just a little concerned about the safety. I have a Snuggle Nest (THANKS Michelle!)...

Lady Q Fertility Monitor? by Em
I'm becoming increasingly dissatisfied using hormonal birth control (I'm on the minipill right now, have been since 8 weeks post partum) and have been looking at other options. I came across saliva fertility monitors like the Lady Q (http://tinyurl.com/2ccfl). Has anyone here used something like...

Theory on fussy DD by Legbuh
First a background... DD goes in spurts 3 or 4 days of being fussy... then 1 day of sleeping through the night, and most of the next day. DD is 7 weeks old and fed EBM. Anyhow... when she's fussy during those days, she eats every 2 hours at least 5 ounces... sometimes more, and more often.

oral thrush by Morag in Oxford
Hi, I have a 10 week old daughter who is exclusively breastfed. She has a bad case of oral thrush - I have been giving her Nystatin drops for 10 days and if anything the thrush has got worse over that time. I am using cream on myself and as far as I can tell I'm clear of the thrush. She's been...

11 mo growth spurt? by sd
I'll de-lurk to ask a question, as I really value the group's insights and opinions. My DD is 11.5 months old. For the past week she has been nursing at least every 2 hrs., sometimes for a snack sometimes a full-fledged nursing. This includes waking in the night to eat. She is also on 3 solid...

a description of milk flow by KC
I seem to have many small letdowns rather than a long one. I read through other posts and people talk about their milk flowing (when pumping) for 45 minutes. I get the impression that other people's milk continuously flows instead of a bunch of letdowns like me. I am pretty sure this is how it...

Nursing while sleeping by Phoebe & Allyson
Well, I tried nursing Caterpillar lying down. Neither one of us were very satisfied with it, but I'm not sure how much of that was novelty, and how much was inherent to the setup. Do any of these things change / get better / go away with practice? -- If she only eats on one side, she wakes up...
