descent without dilation? by
Steve and/or Erin
Little one has descended some (not nearly fully engaged), but I am not
dilated at all at 38 weeks. Is this normal? Doc doesn't seem worried,
although he said he would expect to see more progress for most women at this
point.
Is there any problem with descent and no dilation?
When should I expect...

Ultasound to determine fetal weight by
Wendy
I am going in for a u/s Monday for a fetal weight estimate. giggles
Yes, I know it's kind of silly but I like ultrasounds. I really wonder
what it will say, too. Maybe it will say I am having a 6.5 lb baby and
my reluctant doctor will be suddenly excited about a VBAC. Ha! I still
haven't decided...

Severe Swelling by
Leslie
This morning my feet were so swollen (pitting edema) that I could barely
squeeze them into the size 11 shoes I have been wearing while pregnant (my real
shoes are 9.5!). They went down some while napping but not much. My eyes are
also very puffy today.
I don't see the doctor until Friday (and of...

Mixing formula in a blender by
ChitaShines
Has anyone done this? Do you think it's ok to do? The formula I use comes
out lumpy after I hand shake it. It takes a month of Sundays for me to mash
the lumps out and thought that putting it in a blender would be alot
quicker.

Leslie? by
Anne Rogers
haven't seen any posts from her yet today, what's her time zone? I'm sure I
usually see some when it's evening here, maybe she's in bed resting, or
maybe things are happening, good luck either way!

Naming my he/she... by
Laura Bennett
If he/she's a boy, I'll name him after my grandfather, Andrew William, so
that's an easy one. If he/she's a girl, that's where it gets tricky. I
want to name her after 2 people, my auntie, Susan, and my Al-Anon sponsor,
Sabine (pronounced sah-been).
I'm an adult child of an alcoholic (he's been...

Welcome Rhiannon Erin !! by
Stormlady
Born Monday Oct 25 at 10:02 am weighing 7lb, 6.5 oz. Apgar scores of 9 and
9, and a full head of dark hair and her daddy's habit of lowering her
eyebrows at you. :-))
I was scheduled for a cesarean Monday morning at 9:00 so we got up early and
went to the hospital for admittance at 7:30. As...

32 weeks-staying home for now by
Donna Metler
Except that my BP is now consistently high (130-145/ 85-100) (and has been
since about Sat), things are looking good. At this point, the BP by itself
is not a reason to go back to the hospital-and is actually less of a concern
because it's not swinging (in fact, there really was almost no...

What's that? You can't squat? by
Todd Gastaldo
Pregnant women: OBs are closing birth canals up to 30% and keeping birth
canals closed when babies get stuck.
You can squat for a minute or so (during contractions) and thereby allow
your birth canal to open the "extra" up to 30%.
WHAT'S THAT? YOU CAN'T SQUAT?
NO WOMAN HAS TO SQUAT... To allow...

Correct time for induction? by
Lorenzo
Hello again,
We are now at 38 weeks and waiting for baby to arrive any time!
However, I know of a tragic case where baby was alive and kicking in the
evening, but had died before the induction next morning! The placenta had
simply become exhausted.
My question therefore is, at what stage is it...

cramping by
Anne Rogers
Like CY I have been cramping a lot this pregnancy, I remember it happening
last time, but definitely not as much. This weekend it got much worse,
eventually I decided I had better get checked by the weekend doctor, he was
able to confirm that it was very unlikely to be ectopic and there...

Midwife Jo,
Did anyone at the 23rd Annual Australian Homebirth Conference mention that
standard medical delivery positions close the birth canal up to 30%?

my silly baby... by
Vicky Bilaniuk
At first, he *hated* latex soothers, and now, he seems to love them and
hate the silicone ones! What a kooky kid! ;-) We only have 2 latex
ones because he seemed to hate them so much (we have 4 or 5 of the other
ones). If I try to stick a silicone one in his mouth, he gags and cries.

Swelling etc. update by

I'm not going to take the time right now to answer all the messages (although I
did read and assimilate them--thanks!) because I don't have a phone line in my
bedroom and I want to get back there ASAP.
So this is what I am doing. I have stayed in bed (except for a hot bath and
this trip to the...
