obstetric cholestasis, info needed by
Anne Rogers
I've just heard that a friend who is 34 weeks has been sent to the
hospital as she has "a liver disease" or may have, all info I have in
2nd hand and I'm obviously concerned for her and her baby.
Dh spoke to her on the phone at the weekend and she said she was
itching, but she had some tablets and...

results of complaint by
Anne Rogers
Well, in the end I complained about my treatment upto and during Ada's
birth, sadly this has now resulted in a lot more upset.
When my pain at the end of the pregnancy was happening, it was suggested by
a very junior rheumatologist that it was fibromyalgia, I posted on here and
looked for more...

more on that complaint by
Anne Rogers
Well, as I thought, the next step will be a face to face meeting, which will
take some time to arrange. My concern is that the people at the meeting will
not be the right people in the same way that the people who were consulted
to form the response were not the right people. For example, one of...

I don't know where you are at with discussions, but I thought you might find
this article interesting and you might like to wave it in front of anyone

yet more on the complaints procedure by
Anne Rogers
As it was suggested I went for another session with the Birth Afterthoughts
counsellor, the big advantage of this is that you get to see your notes. So
I was able to see for myself that the response letter was lieing rather than
there being a failure to communicate, SPD was mentioned in my notes so...

FAO Pologirl by

so I found the posts and caught up with them, I hope you didn't feel that
people weren't responding when there were so few answers about positioning
etc. I suspect I'm not the only one who just didn't see them as they were
tagged onto an old thread.

long term digestive changes following pregnancy by
Anne Rogers
has anyone else experience things along this line, I had fairly normal
experiences in pregnancy, with some nausea, some vomitting, so bizzare food
aversions, some cravings etc. I felt between my two pregnancies things were
as they were before, but now, following the 2nd, it seems like I'm just...

homebirth in principle, but not in practice? by
Anne Rogers
I've been having some musings, both of my births were booked as homebirths
and both happened in hospital, as Ada grows older my mind turns to next
time, if there is one, which does require some analysis of past events.
Intellectually I am all for homebirths and strongly believe women should...

I'm going to make a complaint by
Anne Rogers
On Wednesday I had a meeting with a midwife/counsellor and had a look at my
medical notes, I had put out of my mind everything that had happened in the
week before Ada's birth and had tried to forget about it. The reason I went
to the counsellor was because I wanted to talk about how I had...

how much sleep is too much? by
Anne Rogers
I never thought I would hear myself say this, but I'm starting to think that
Ada is sleeping too much, I would describe her as sleeping like newborn and
she is 4 months tomorrow. She sleeps 16-20hrs a day, 12+hrs at night, 3+hrs
in the afternoon and a few cat naps. I don't have a big picture of...

drug absorbsion by
Anne Rogers
I take co-dodamol (codeine and tylenol), for my SPD and related pain I have
usually taken it in tablet form, the tablets are quite big, 1cm across and
not well coated, so they taste BAD, I have some difficulty swallowing them,
though not particularly bad (I would vomit instantly trying to swallow...

Epidurals increase birth aid need
Pregnant women 'should be aware of the pros and cons of epidurals'
Women who have an epidural to ease the pain of childbirth are more likely to
need medical help to have their baby, scientists say.

sterilization reversal by

1.8% of women go through a reversal and 2.4% of men and that's those who go
through it rather than want to.
Certainly leaves it a topic for consideration rather than black and white.

Folic acid absorption and caffeine? by
Anne Rogers
Folic acid can prevent neural tube defects (at 400mcg) by 70 %. Seems
worth it to take it! Apparently, I fall into that 30 %, and if we were to
have another I would have to take 4 mg (10 times more than recommended).
It's frustrating as most health care providers assume I wasn't...

wierdness by
Anne Rogers
I just found copies of my maternity notes, from the time we were in Korea,
which was 16-32 weeks pregnant with number 2. Though we had not planned to
have ultrasound, we did end up having a couple due to other complications,
I'd looked at the write ups before, though not at the time as we...
