making your own baby cereal by
KR
I think I've read briefly about that here before, but can't quite remember.
Can you make your own cereal? I found several sites, such as
www.wholesomebabyfood.com that say there is no reason why you can't. I
guess my biggest question would be if I have to add fer-vi-sol (an iron
supplement) so...

Milk supply dwindling for toddler by
Beth
Hi everyone,
My son is almost 15 months old and I *think* my milk supply is on the wane,
though I am not sure. Supply has never been a problem with us; DS was one
of those giant Michelin babies who was off the charts for several months,
and didn't even eat food until 11 months.
Nothing about his...

Mastitis and 16 month old by
Rosie
Hello,
Well, I think my new year's resolution of only wearing decent underwired
bras has BACKFIRED - damn, I wanted some decent CLEAVAGE for a change and I
thought I wasn't making enough milk to really matter - and I suddenly came
down with mastitis two days ago. Had a dreadful night with fever...

My 3 1/2yo nursling preschooler, while nursing before bed and having a

"Will you grow MORE beebees when the baby is born?"
Possible interpretaions: Woo-hoo, even more beebees and milk for me!

Stocking Up Before Returning to Work by
Usenet Fan
I have to return to work the first week of May. I'll be able to pump
once I return. It's a pretty flexible environment and they provide a
nice room for pumping.
I know I should have a decent supply stocked up and frozen for DS when
I do go back to work.
He eats just about every 3 hours like...

Pumping Q... by
chris
Hi all!
Ror all of you who are pumping, how many ounces are you
feeding in each bottle?
I have a 4.5 month old who was happily eating a 4 oz
bottle, even leaving a bit behind. I've bumped up the
amount I leave for him to be closer to 5 oz, but I'm
having a hard time figuring out if that's enough.

Eczema or not? Why so hard to find out? +rant! by
backy
I know it's an impossible ask but we'd really like some help!
With a parental history of asthma and allergies, our 4mth D is doomed
to similar and she has had a problem with 'eczema' on her head for a
month or so. The thing is, all we read about the subject starts off
"dry skin.....". As far as we...

What a night! :) by
Cheryl S.
After all my complaining about lack of sleep, I thought I'd share the
good too. Last night Jaden went to sleep by 9:30, woke at 3:00, nursed
for 10 minutes, played with the rocking chair pad and looked around his
room for 10 minutes, started yawning so I put him back to breast, nursed
for another...

OT - how to keep a cast dry? by
Cathy Weeks
Hi all,
At the ripe old age of 34, I broke my wrist while my daughter and I
were visiting my parents. A moment of inattentiveness, and I slipped
on some ice, and broke my fall (and wrist) with my left arm.
One thing that has proved irritating is keeping the cast dry during
showers. I did a web...

Passing an illness via breastmilk? by
Cathy Weeks
Hi all,
A friend just called me - she's got an intestinal bug, and wondered if
she could pass it to her 8 month old via breastmilk. Should she keep
nursing, or pump-n-dump and use formula?
I told her that as far as I knew she could keep nursing, that if
anything, the breastmilk would help protect...

how many solids for an 8 1/2 month old? by

*sigh* my Q is 'how little solids for an 8.5 month old? Pup just isn't
going in for this food lark atall. We're lucky if he takes one baby
teaspoon a day of anything. We try twice a day and have been doing so now
for 5 weeks - very trying. He is more enthusiastic in body language terms

Barely nursing all of a sudden by
laurie
The past week or so, Christopher's been really weird with nursing. He's barely
doing it. Like, he may latch on for a few seconds, but that's it. THen maybe
twice a day, sometimes three, (usually during the night) he'll eat well. But
even tonight at bedtime, he just barely latched on for a minute or...

Gift ideas for baby shower--2nd-time bf mom? by

My sister-in-law is going to be having baby #2 next month, and I'm having
trouble coming up with a good idea for a baby-shower gift. She, my brother,
and niece live far away, so I won't be able to go, but I'm still planning to
send something.
The friend who is planning the shower chose as a theme...

nipple confusion advice by

responded that the various methods of feeding are actually controversial,
that feeding with syringe, cup, etc., also promote confusion. She was...

dehydrated? -- help pls by
Aprill
hi all,
my 10 day old DS just slept thru last night without making a
wet or dirty nappy. He fed at 11pm (breastfed) and i ended
up waking him at 5am to start another feed. Is this a sign of
dehydration? especially in this heat.. and i'm pretty sure he's
not making 6 wet nappies a day. Mostly green...

Sent this to Sesame Workshop by
Jan Andrea
I watched Sesame Street with my son (almost 4) this morning. It was a show
about babies, as Baby Bear has a new sister (Curly Bear). But of all the
babies shown, and some were shown eating, not a single one was shown
breastfeeding. All of the infants were being bottlefed, including Curly
Bear. ...
